Would you like to join our teams to help ensure that the PTSD claims process runs smoothly and efficiently?

As our new PTSD coordinator, you will serve as a key point of contact for colleagues in the Zaanstreek Waterland and Amsterdam-Amstelland safety regions regarding applications and processes related to the National PTSD Scheme

What will you be doing?

Effective February 1, 2026, the new National PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder) Policy applies to all safety regions. This policy provides support to employees and volunteers who have developed PTSD as a result of their work in the emergency response sector.

The policy establishes uniform guidelines for the assessment of PTSD and the support to which employees are entitled. Safety regions are responsible for ensuring that this policy is implemented properly.

To carry out this work, we are looking for a dedicated and meticulous PTSD Coordinator to work for VR Zaanstreek-Waterland & VR Amsterdam-Amstelland.

Your specific duties and responsibilities are:

  • assisting employees with applications under the national PTSD program;
  • answering questions about the program and providing support for its implementation;
  • handling administrative processes and claims related to PTSD;
  • identifying bottlenecks and making suggestions for improvement;
  • advising management, HR, and supervisors;
  • contributing to the further development of the national toolbox and regulations;
  • collaborating with various disciplines both within and outside the organization.
  • submitting progress reports and providing data for the ministry’s statistics.

In this role, you will interact with colleagues who have experienced traumatic events. This requires empathy, sensitivity, and a professional demeanor. You are a good listener, reliable, and able to create a safe environment where colleagues feel heard.

At the same time, you are also able to maintain an overview, monitor processes, and handle confidential information with care.

Do you recognize yourself in

  • You have an interest in PTSD as a subject; experience is a plus;
  • You have at least an MBO+ level of work and thinking;
  • You have experience implementing existing policies and protocols, administrative processes, or similar tasks;
  • You work meticulously, you have integrity, and you can handle confidential information responsibly;
  • You are able to work independently, but don’t hesitate to ask for help when needed ;
  • You are familiar with the Afas HR system;
  • You have a driver's license and are willing to work at various locations.

Here's what you'll get from us

At the Amsterdam-Amstelland Safety Region, you can work with a great team where you’ll have opportunities to grow in your role.

  • Salary in pay grade 10 ranging from €3,843 to €5,748 per month based on a 36-hour workweek. This includes a 3.1% collective bargaining agreement increase effective August 1, 2026.
  • A job for 32–36 hours a week
  • An individual flexible spending allowance (IFSA) of 18.63% of the gross annual salary. This includes the year-end bonus and vacation pay.
  • Travel allowance of 0.23 cents per kilometer up to a maximum of 300 kilometers one way, or full reimbursement for second-class public transportation.
  • 176 hours of leave based on a 36-hour workweek, including 33 hours of overtime, plus May 1 and May 5 are fixed days off!
  • A one-year appointment, with the possibility of a permanent position.
  • An attractive cycling plan to implement after your first appointment.
  • A generous pension plan through ABP, 70% of which is paid by us.
  • The option to work remotely with a work-from-home allowance of €3 per day.
  • Monthly health insurance premium.
  • Free access to all sports facilities and classes at the fire stations.
  • We place a strong emphasis on (personal) development, offering opportunities to participate in courses, training sessions, and workshops.
  • The opportunity to take on an on-call position in addition to your regular job.

Unfortunately, there is no free parking available at the Willem and Nico offices. We therefore recommend using public transportation or a bicycle to avoid expensive parking fees.
