Stadsschouwburg Utrecht is looking for a Community Marketer (24–28 hours/week) starting November 1
The bridge between the Stadsschouwburg and the city
Can you help us connect the Stadsschouwburg with communities that we currently don’t reach—or reach only minimally? If so, we’d love to work with you to build a broader, younger, and more diverse audience that feels welcome at our theater.
Stadsschouwburg Utrecht is an open and welcoming venue for anyone who loves theater and the performing arts. We present a wide range of national and international productions across all genres. We also organize special projects, often in collaboration with other venues, festivals, and companies in Utrecht. In addition, our historic building is available for rent.
We have two theater halls (the Main Hall and the Blue Hall), a café (Mevr. Dudok), and a theater restaurant (Zindering). We welcome more than 200,000 visitors each year. We work closely with the Dutch performing arts community, and with Utrecht-based companies, festivals, and institutions in particular. We also support local Utrecht artists and are strongly committed to education and talent development. We believe it is important that everyone feels welcome. Sustainability, equality, reciprocity, and complementarity are central to this.
You will report to the Head of MC&V and collaborate with the campaign team (for themed campaigns), programmers (to discuss content related to target audiences), and external partners such as neighborhood organizations, schools, and social institutions.
You’re a connector who moves effortlessly between the Stadsschouwburg and Utrecht’s neighborhoods. You easily connect with people and organizations that aren’t yet regular guests at our theater, and build genuine, lasting relationships with them. You’re proactive, independent, and know how to find your way even without a set framework. At the same time, you collaborate seamlessly with the campaign team and the programmers, ensuring that community-building and marketing reinforce one another. You have an affinity for culture, diversity, and inclusion, and communicate clearly and accessibly to a wide range of audiences.
Must-haves:
Nice-to-haves:
We offer you a versatile and varied role in an inspiring workplace, right in the heart of Utrecht, where you’ll work alongside a close-knit team of 9 colleagues. In every department, we strive for diversity and give you plenty of room to be yourself. Experimenting, learning, and growing—you’ll have plenty of opportunities to do all of that with us. In this way, you’ll actively contribute to an inclusive world of performing arts.
You’ll start with a one-year contract for 24–28 hours per week, with the possibility of renewal. Our terms of employment are in accordance with the 2025–2026 Collective Bargaining Agreement for Dutch Performing Arts Venues, under which your salary will be determined based on your experience and skills and will fall within pay scale 6 (€2,872.54 to €3,990.25 for 36 hours).
You get 25 vacation days per year, and we add public holiday hours to your vacation balance. This way, you can choose which public holidays you want to take off.
To make sure you're well-prepared, we'll provide you with a comprehensive onboarding program.
In addition, there are attractive employee benefits, such as travel reimbursement, the opportunity to attend performances at an employee rate, a bicycle program, flexible working hours, and opportunities for professional development.
If so, we’d love for you to apply by July 16 using the questionnaire linked to the job posting on our website—see this link. We believe that talent develops in many ways. That’s why we use a questionnaire instead of a standard cover letter. This questionnaire helps us better understand your ideas and motivation. Due to our summer break, you’ll receive a response by phone or email within 3 weeks after the job posting’s closing date. Interviews are scheduled for September 2, with a second round on September 9. Finally, there will be a discussion regarding terms of employment.
Not sure if you meet all the requirements? We encourage you to apply anyway, even if you don’t meet every single one.
