Dunamare’s communications department is entering a new phase. We are building a strategic department that sets its own direction, takes the lead, and contributes to connection, reputation, and effective communication within the organization.
That is why we are looking for an experienced and capable professional who can guide a (small) communications team through this transition. Someone who brings calm and clarity to day-to-day operations, but who also has a vision for the future of communications within a complex educational organization. Our 24 schools are all different but share a single ambition: that every student has an equal opportunity to reach their full potential at a strong and healthy school.
We need to further solidify our foundation, strengthen our strategic role, and make clear decisions regarding our collaboration with the administration, schools, and support departments. A lot of good work is already being done, but there are also clear areas for improvement. You’ll have the opportunity to make a real impact, build in phases, and work on effective internal communication within the organization.
As a communications manager, you are responsible for ensuring smooth day-to-day communications operations. You serve as a strategic advisor to the Executive Board and lead a small communications team consisting of two communications professionals, supplemented by a flexible network of copywriters, agencies, and, for example, marketers.
You navigate the administrative environment with ease and know when to offer advice—whether solicited or unsolicited—set boundaries, or step in to provide hands-on support. You help the organization become more communication-oriented: with greater control, clearer decisions, and a cohesive approach to communication issues.
Your responsibilities will include:
- ensuring the smooth running of day-to-day communication and providing clarity, structure, and prioritization, while also pitching in hands-on when needed;
- advising the Executive Board on public communications, issue management, and reputation matters;
- managing professionals;
- developing a vision for internal communication and strengthening corporate communication;
- You will work closely with the Management Team on organization-wide issues, such as HR, Strategy, Development and Change, IT, Education & Quality, Finance, and the Executive Secretariat, as well as with external partners;
- formulating communication frameworks and enhancing communication maturity within the organization;
- You will help ensure that the communications team is involved in developments and decision-making in a timely manner.
Who are you?
- You have a bachelor's or master's degree in communications or a related field;
- You have at least 5 years of relevant experience as a communications professional (in a leadership role) within a complex organization;
- You have experience in the strategic use of corporate communications, internal communications, reputation management, and positioning.
- You have proven experience advising the board or executive management on strategic communication issues;
- You are a people-oriented leader who operates on the basis of trust;
- You bring calm, clarity, and professionalism, even when interests diverge or the organization demands a lot at once. You are a strong discussion partner, can set clear boundaries, and aren’t afraid to make decisions;
- You have the ability to work independently and quickly, while at the same time connecting with people at various levels.
What do you get in return from us?
- This position falls under pay scale 13. Your salary will range from a minimum of €5,691.00 to a maximum of €8,065.00 gross per month, based on full-time employment. Your pay grade will be determined based on your level of education and work experience.
- You will be offered a fixed-term contract with the possibility of a permanent position, with a workload of 0.8–0.9 FTE.
- In addition, you will receive an 8% vacation allowance and a year-end bonus (13th month) of 8.33%.
- A great pension plan! Dunamare Education covers 70% of the cost of the plan through the ABP.
- You will receive a fixed annual expense allowance of €75 (paid once a year in November, prorated based on the length of your employment).
- Dunamare goes the extra mile for your personal development: The Dunamare Academy is the place to be when it comes to learning and development—whether you’re a teacher, an educational support staff member, or a manager. Check out our extensive program: www.dunamare-academie.nl.
- We’re fully committed to your health and well-being. For example, we offer an attractive bike plan, wellness coaches, and classes such as mindfulness, running, or kickboxing. In addition, you’ll receive a €100 annual wellness allowance for sports activities or, for example, to buy new running shoes.
- Every year, you can use 90 additional hours of time off in a way that fits your current stage of life. You can choose to have these hours paid out, or you can use them to promote a healthy work-life balance—or for professional and personal development.
