Stadsschouwburg Utrecht is looking for a Content Creator (20–24 hours/week) starting October 1

The face of SSBU online.

Can you showcase what’s happening in and around the theater by creating videos, photos, and posts for social media? If so, we’d love to work with you to foster growth, engagement, and a recognizable online presence for the Stadsschouwburg.

About the Stadsschouwburg Utrecht

Stadsschouwburg Utrecht is an open and welcoming venue for anyone who loves theater and the performing arts. We present a wide range of national and international productions across all genres. We also organize special projects, often in collaboration with other venues, festivals, and companies in Utrecht. In addition, our historic building is available for rent.

We have two theater halls (the Main Hall and the Blue Hall), a café (Mevr. Dudok), and a theater restaurant (Zindering). We welcome more than 200,000 visitors each year. We work closely with the Dutch performing arts community, and with Utrecht-based companies, festivals, and institutions in particular. We also support local Utrecht artists and are strongly committed to education and talent development. We believe it is important that everyone feels welcome. Sustainability, equality, reciprocity, and complementarity are central to this.

What are you going to do?

  • You plan, create, and publish content daily on Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
  • You film, edit, and publish videos—behind-the-scenes footage, interviews with creators, and atmospheric shots.
  • You'll take photos at performances and events and write captions that are appropriate for the platform and the target audience.
  • You respond to posts and comments on behalf of the Stadsschouwburg and keep track of trends.
  • You analyze how the content is performing and contribute to the monthly social media report.

Your main responsibilities:

  • Creating daily content for Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and LinkedIn;
  • Editing videos and taking photos;
  • Keep track of the content calendar;
  • Community management (responding to posts and comments);
  • Monitor trends and adapt them to the SSBU context.

Who do you work with:

You will report to the Head of MC&V and work closely with the Digital Marketer (campaign coordination and reporting), the Community Marketer (community content), the designer (brand identity and visual communications), and programmers (for content related to performances). The Digital Marketer manages the paid campaigns; you will be responsible for organic content.

Who are you?

You’re a creative content creator who brings theater to life through video, images, and text on social media. With at least 2 years of experience—preferably at a cultural or social organization—you can edit videos with ease (using CapCut, Premiere, or similar software) and have a keen eye for photography. You know Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and LinkedIn inside and out, closely follow trends, and know exactly what appeals to each target audience. You’re proactive and flexible, and you enjoy being right in the thick of things—even in the evenings or on weekends—to capture the atmosphere of performances and events.

Must-haves:

  • At least 2 years of experience as a content creator, preferably for a cultural or social organization;
  • You can edit videos (using CapCut, Premiere, or a similar program) and take photos;
  • You're very familiar with Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and LinkedIn;
  • You have a flair for language and imagery;
  • You're flexible—including evenings and weekends for performances.

Nice-to-haves:

  • Experience with TikTok trends and formats;
  • An interest in theater and culture.

What do we offer?

We offer you a versatile and varied role in an inspiring workplace, right in the heart of Utrecht, where you’ll work alongside a close-knit team of 9 colleagues. In every department, we strive for diversity and give you plenty of room to be yourself. Experimenting, learning, and growing—you’ll have plenty of opportunities to do all of that with us. In this way, you’ll actively contribute to an inclusive world of performing arts.

You’ll start with a one-year contract for 20–24 hours per week, with the possibility of renewal. Our terms of employment are in accordance with the 2025–2026 Collective Bargaining Agreement for Dutch Performing Arts Venues, under which your salary will be determined based on your experience and skills and will fall within pay scale 6 (€2,844.10 to €3,950.74 for 36 hours).

You get 25 vacation days per year, and we add public holiday hours to your vacation balance. This way, you can choose which public holidays you want to take off.

To make sure you're well-prepared, we'll provide you with a comprehensive onboarding program.

In addition, there are attractive employee benefits, such as travel reimbursement, the opportunity to attend performances at an employee rate, a bicycle program, flexible working hours, and opportunities for professional development.

Does reading this job posting get you excited?

We’d like to invite you to apply by July 16 using the questionnaire linked to the job posting on our website; see this link. We believe that talent develops in many ways. That’s why we use a questionnaire instead of a standard cover letter. This questionnaire helps us better understand your ideas and motivation.  Within 3 weeks of the job posting’s closing date [](#_msocom_7)—due to our summer break—you’ll receive a response by phone or email. Interviews are scheduled for August 26, with a second round on September 2. Finally, there will be a discussion regarding terms of employment.

Not sure if you meet all the requirements? We encourage you to apply anyway, even if you don’t meet every single one.

If you would like to learn more about this position, please contact Jamila El Maroudi, Head of Marketing, Communications, and Sales, at j.el.maroudi@ssbu.nl.

We value diversity
