The people most affected by policy are still too often the last to be heard. We believe that good decisions can only be made if the people they affect are involved in the discussion from the very beginning. That is why we are looking for a participation project manager who can bridge different worlds.
About the role
As a project leader, you are responsible for coordinating and leading a multidisciplinary team to achieve project objectives. Although you do not hold a formal management role within the team, you will guide, direct, and support team members to ensure that the project is completed successfully.
You will maintain contact with our partners and ensure consistency and quality, both in terms of content and strategy as well as from a business perspective.
At Diversion, we carry out many different projects, and you could serve as a project manager for them. You will primarily serve as a project manager for our participatory projects. In these projects, we involve people directly in issues that affect them. For example, we engaged victims of the benefits scandal in shaping remediation policies, on behalf of the Ministry of Finance. And we worked with citizens and journalists to explore how they could foster greater mutual understanding among one another. We’re known for truly listening to people and for being effective in our advice and in communicating it to our clients. That makes us people-centered doers and strategic advisors.
Your responsibilities
- You design participatory processes—both in terms of content and methodology—based on your expertise, enabling us to engage with and identify the people who matter most, and ensuring they feel heard and seen.
- You will prepare and conduct co-creation sessions, dialogue sessions, and training sessions.
- You will oversee and improve the quality of the work and the team. You will provide substantive guidance on the monitoring, evaluation, and further development of the project’s activities.
- You will develop the schedule and manage the budgets for the project, and you will be accountable for the results;
- You manage various project teams. You help them grow and keep an eye on their limits.
- You maintain contact with investors, partners, and other stakeholders, and proactively update them on results, trends, and indicators.
About you
- You have proven experience in setting up and implementing successful participatory processes.
- You have more than 3 years of experience leading community engagement initiatives and managing complex partnerships.
- Based on your own background, network, or life experience, you are familiar with the perspectives and interests of our target groups. We view that experience as a valuable addition to our team.
- By listening carefully and asking the right questions, you can reconcile differing interests and needs.
- You are able to work with your team to develop creative and innovative approaches that are tailored to the target audience you are working with and that lead to the desired results.
- You are able to work with your team to critically reflect on the progress and added value of the projects we undertake. You can discuss your reflections and any course corrections both internally and externally as the project progresses.
- Working under deadlines doesn't faze you. You can switch quickly between different projects.
- You know how to tailor your communication to different audiences. You’re also comfortable speaking in front of groups.
- You have experience guiding and coaching young people. You recognize what the team and its members need. You inspire them and provide the right direction and framework for assigning responsibilities within the team.
- At Diversion, the working language is Dutch, so you must be proficient in Dutch, both spoken and written.
What do we offer?
- A job with a 32- to 36-hour workweek;
- For this position, you can expect a starting salary between €3,700 and €4,000 gross per month (based on a full-time contract), depending on your experience and expertise.
- You are part of a socially driven organization;
- Full reimbursement of travel expenses for the days you work at the office and a work-from-home allowance for the days you work from home;
- A pension plan with ASR;
- 28 vacation days with a 36-hour workweek;
