Do you enjoy the dynamic interplay between policy and implementing organizations? Are you capable of developing and implementing the new “chain management” initiative? Do you have the necessary experience and confidence to operate within the administrative and political context of a ministry’s senior leadership? If so, this position is for you
As the head of the Tax and Customs Administration, the Deputy Secretary-General (pSG) is responsible for the continuity and stability of the operational units. This requires an understanding of what is and is not feasible in operations and where bottlenecks may arise. Much of this knowledge is embedded in the Tax and Customs Administration’s so-called operational chains. Within these chains, the Tax and Customs Administration focuses on tasks and objectives that transcend individual directorates or departments, such as the Value-Added Tax (VAT) or Income Tax (IT) chains. Chains also carry out tasks for Customs and the Benefits Service.
You will be in daily contact with colleagues at the Tax and Customs Administration, Benefits, Customs, and the Directorate-General for Tax Affairs (DGFZ). You participate in key chain meetings and share relevant information with your team. With your expertise, you help identify bottlenecks or conflicting interests within (or between) policy and implementation, enabling timely coordination toward a solution. If necessary, you ensure that a strategic discussion on this matter takes place in the tripartite meeting or the owner consultation between the pSG and the DGs. Thanks to your efforts, Owner Advisory Services can help ensure that policies are implementable.
You enjoy the challenge of gathering knowledge about the supply chains and shaping the “supply chain management” initiative together with your colleagues within the cluster. You enjoy engaging with those on the front lines and are able to clearly articulate the owner’s perspective. You link policy and implementation where necessary and ensure that the right strategic discussions take place during administrative meetings. Thanks to your dedication, policy implementation gets a little better every day!
You enjoy a variety of tasks and are open to whatever the day brings, without losing sight of the long-term goals. You’re able to build a network so you stay well-informed about what’s happening on the ground.
You’ll be working in a pleasant and supportive team with dedicated colleagues with whom you can coordinate, brainstorm, and offer constructive criticism, but with whom you’ll, above all, enjoy working. In addition to collaborating with account managers within the Tax Authority, Benefits, and Customs cluster, you will primarily work with one colleague on our team who has a similar set of responsibilities. All of this takes place in a dynamic environment shaped by current political events.
With us, you can develop your expertise in both substantive topics and your professional skills as an advisor to top management.
Would you like to discuss your potential future role first? If so, please contact Eva Schuurman (06-50158727) or Björn Teunen (06-11722276).
