This will be your job

As Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at Victim Support Netherlands, you will serve as an independent advisor on compliance with relevant laws and regulations, as well as the internal information security policies of Victim Support Netherlands and Perspectief Restorative Mediation. In this independent role, you will report directly to the Board of Directors.

You oversee the implementation and compliance with information security policies within the organization. You identify risks, translate business risks into IT security risks, and translate threat analyses and developments into appropriate security measures. You coordinate with stakeholders, suppliers, and supply chain partners regarding appropriate security measures and agreements. You also draw up the annual security plan and prepare management reports.

In addition, you will provide the Board of Directors with both solicited and unsolicited advice on risks, developments, and policy measures. You will offer critical advice on decisions that affect the organization’s continuity, reputation, and security. In the event of security incidents, you will assess their severity, scope, and appropriate response.

You will coordinate internal and external IT audits, such as ISO 27001 and DigiD audits, and oversee security scans and penetration tests. You will ensure that the results lead to concrete improvement plans. You will promote cybersecurity awareness and ensure clear communication both internally and externally. Through your efforts, you will ensure that information security is not a standalone issue, but a firmly embedded part of our organization and services. As CISO at Victim Support Netherlands, you will work on digital resilience with a direct social impact. You make a difference—for the organization and for the people who rely on us.

Who are you? 

We are looking for a colleague who is not afraid to offer independent advice, can analyze risks with precision, and knows how to translate complex issues into practical solutions. You have strong strategic skills, are persuasive, and know how to build support at all levels of the organization. In addition, you have:

  • Specialized knowledge of information security, cybersecurity threats, and relevant laws and regulations;
  • Experience with standards such as ISO 27001, DigiD, and audit processes;
  • Knowledge of business processes, digitalization, and risk management;
  • Excellent communication and advisory skills, both verbal and written;
  • Administrative sensitivity, independence, and flexibility in the event of incidents.
