Healthcare starts with a building that works.

 Behind every treatment room, clinic, and meeting space lies technology that must work—always. As a Project Manager for Building Services Engineering, you ensure that our mechanical systems are reliable, safe, and future-proof. In doing so, you help make quality mental health care possible every day—often behind the scenes, but with a significant impact.

You’ll work in an environment where technology, healthcare, and social responsibility come together. Where every decision matters and where your expertise directly contributes to the well-being of clients and colleagues.

Would you like to apply your technical expertise in a role that makes a tangible difference in society? Then read on and discover how you can make a difference at Arkin.

What will you be doing?

As a project manager, you will be responsible for the management, maintenance, and ongoing development of mechanical systems within our real estate portfolio. This includes HVAC systems, ventilation, heating, cooling, and plumbing systems.

You:

  • manages maintenance and improvement projects from planning through to completion;
  • monitors quality, scheduling, budget, and safety;
  • coordinates with internal colleagues (healthcare, facilities, real estate) and external parties;
  • assesses technical installation issues and translates them into feasible solutions;
  • ensures that installations comply with laws, regulations, and sustainability goals;
  • contributes ideas on future-proof real estate and replacement investments.

You move seamlessly between strategy and practice: from long-term planning to solving urgent technical issues.

What makes this position special?

You’ll be working in a socially meaningful environment where technology directly contributes to well-being and safety. This isn’t a typical real estate role—it’s a position where you’ll take into account vulnerable populations, care processes, and the continuity of treatment.

You'll have the opportunity to:

  • take responsibility;
  • collaborate with various disciplines;
  • actively contribute to making technical management more sustainable and professional.

We offer you:

You will be working at a large social knowledge organization in the mental health sector, where real estate and technology are key prerequisites for providing quality care. And:

  • Terms of employment in accordance with the GGZ Collective Bargaining Agreement, pay scale 55/60 (maximum €5,730 gross based on a 36-hour workweek);
  • This is a 36-hour-per-week position, with the intention of converting it to a permanent position if the candidate performs well;
  • An end-of-year bonus of 8.33% and 8.33% vacation pay;
  • You are building up a solid retirement pension with the Healthcare & Welfare Pension Fund.
  • In addition, Arkin offers a number of attractive employment benefits:
  • For commuting and business travel, you will receive a second-class transit pass, which can also be used for OV-fiets, or a mileage allowance;
  • Discounts on insurance from Univé and Centraal Beheer;
  • A work-from-home policy that includes reimbursement for setting up a workspace and compensation for days worked from home;
  • With 11 specialties across various locations, Arkin also offers many long-term opportunities for your professional development and personal growth. To this end, we offer a wide range of training programs;
  • A flexible benefits plan that allows you to use your gross salary for additional vacation time, a bicycle purchase, and supplemental travel expenses;
  • For your well-being, in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement, you’ll receive an annual wellness budget of €1,000 (pro-rated based on your employment status) and an annual vitality budget of up to €100 (for permanent employees working at least 18 hours per week), as well as access to the Nrgize platform to participate in activities such as boot camp, yoga, and salsa dancing. In addition, you’ll receive unlimited access to GoodHabitz’s online course offerings.

What do you bring to the table?

We are looking for a colleague who combines technical expertise with a commitment to sustainability. You work in a systematic manner and are able to explain complex systems in a way that is easy for your colleagues in the healthcare sector to understand. In addition, we require:

  • HBO-level education and thinking skills, preferably in installation engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field;
  • At least 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in technical management, maintenance, or installation projects;
  • Knowledge of and experience with building services systems (HVAC, air handling, water systems, heat pumps);
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to engage with both internal and external stakeholders;
  • Experience with contract management, procurement, and supplier selection;
  • An interest in sustainability, energy management, and circular technologies;
  • Experience with project-based work or acting as a project manager is a plus;
  • A Class B driver's license and your own transportation are preferred (due to locations throughout the Greater Amsterdam area).
