What will you be doing?

As the functional administrator of our Competency Management System (VMS), now known as AG5, you serve as the key link between users and the technical side of the system. You ensure that our VMS operates optimally and meets the organization’s needs. You are the point of contact for questions, reports, and requests for improvements, and you work closely with colleagues, VMS vendors, and IT specialists.

Specific duties and responsibilities include:

  • Manage and optimize the VMS, including user management and permissions.
  • Identifying bottlenecks and proactively suggesting improvements.
  • Providing support to users with questions and issues, both by phone and on-site (at the barracks).
  • Testing new features and updates, including the development of test scenarios.
  • Preparing and maintaining manuals and work instructions.
  • Coordinating changes and releases in collaboration with the vendor and colleagues from our department and other departments.
  • Analyzing data and reports to provide insights into usage and performance.

Who are you?

You are an enthusiastic and solution-oriented professional who enjoys working with others and taking on responsibility. You have an eye for detail, are able to switch easily between different levels, and enjoy continuously improving systems and processes.

  • You have at least an MBO+ level of education and thinking, preferably in the field of IT or information management.
  • You have experience in functional management and an interest in competency management systems.
  • You have strong communication skills and are good at helping users adapt to changes.
  • You have an analytical mind and can quickly get to the bottom of problems.
  • You work in an organized manner, are proactive, and have a service-oriented attitude.
  • Experience with VMS and/or AG5 is a plus, as is knowledge of data integration and data processing.

Do you have experience working in a fire department or a similar setting? If so, that’s a plus!

  • Depending on your education and experience, a salary in pay scale 8 with a maximum of €4,302 per month based on a 36-hour workweek.
  • A job for 32–36 hours a week
  • A flexible spending allowance equal to 18.63% of your gross annual salary. This includes your year-end bonus and vacation pay.
  • 187.2 hours of leave based on a 36-hour workweek, 33 of which are overtime hours.
  • A one-year appointment, with the possibility of a permanent position.
  • A generous pension plan through ABP, 70% of which is paid by us.
  • Monthly health insurance premium.
  • Free use of all sports facilities at the fire stations.

The department

Our Professional Competence Department consists of approximately 50 professionals and ensures that all active-duty firefighting personnel maintain a high level of professional competence in terms of knowledge, skills, and behavior. We play a leading role in fostering professional excellence, from firefighters to the duty commander.

The department consists of three teams: Learning and Development, Maintaining Professional Competence, and Developing Professional Competence (including the Amsterdam-Amstelland, Uithoorn, and Schiphol Fire Department Education, Training, and Drill Center—BOCAS). Your position is within the Maintaining Professional Competence team. In this role, you will provide functional management support for both fire department and crisis management colleagues.
