We are currently seeking a: Financial Grants Officer (0.8 FTE/30 hours)
Within the Green Livelihoods Alliance (GLA), we collaborate with various organizations to conserve tropical forests. In addition, Milieudefensie works within the Fair, Green & Global Alliance (FGG) to make international value chains more sustainable and to amplify the voices of people and communities around the world.
To ensure that funding for these international programs and other Milieudefensie programs is used as effectively as possible, sound financial management, planning, and reporting are essential.
What will you be doing?
- You will share responsibility for preparing Milieudefensie’s annual budget, including the GLA and FGG programs. You will be responsible for managing the budget in accordance with the grant conditions and for monitoring these budgets on a quarterly and annual basis.
- You are responsible for arranging the payment of advance payments and final payments to partner organizations in the Southern region.
- You keep track of the relevant policies of the grant provider.
- You will ensure that our partners and colleagues submit the necessary financial documents, such as financial reports and audit reports, on time. You will also review these documents.
- You will contribute to the project budgets for grant applications and to periodic financial management reports.
What are you bringing?
- You have a college-level education and way of thinking.
- You have at least 2 years of verifiable work experience in grant management for large (international) projects.
- Experience working with organizations in the Global South is a plus.
- You have knowledge and experience in financial management, budgeting, and Excel.
- You take the initiative and are decisive.
- You have excellent written skills in Dutch and English.
- You support the goals of Milieudefensie.
Who do you work with?
You will be part of Milieudefensie’s Finance and Control department. You will work closely with:
- your finance colleagues on the team;
- colleagues from the International Cooperation Department and other departments that implement national programs;
- the program coordinators of GLA and FGG;
- the campaigners and content staff of the Content & Lobbying Department;
- colleagues in the Communications & Fundraising Department;
- colleagues from organizations within the two alliances.

- A one-year contract with the option to extend.
- A salary ranging from €3,065 to €4,715 for full-time employment, depending on your knowledge and experience. At Milieudefensie, this is a 37.5-hour workweek.
