We host over 400 events a year, ranging from cabaret, music, dance, and theater to television productions, business meetings, and pop concerts. All of these events take place at our two venues, the Stadsschouwburg and the PHIL, in the bustling center of Haarlem.

You understand that there is a complex administrative process taking place behind the scenes. We are looking for an enthusiastic and energetic Financial Controller to work 30–36 hours per week to ensure that our financial management is in order and that management is supported with the right information.

Organization & Department

We are a single organization with two prominent venues in the center of Haarlem. Our team, consisting of 55 full-time staff members, approximately 50 hospitality staff, and a dedicated group of volunteers, works together to ensure that all performances and events run smoothly. The Finance and Control department, which reports to management, consists of three staff members.

What will you be doing?

As a Financial Controller, you will work closely with your fellow Financial Controller, and together you will be responsible for financial administration and reporting. You will each have your own area of focus, but you will also be able to cover for one another.

A sample of your responsibilities:

You will assist budget managers in preparing and monitoring their budgets and KPIs;
You will prepare the (multi-year) budgets based on their input;
You will be responsible for general ledger management and preparing the income statement;
You will prepare financial reports and translate them into relevant management information, using tools such as Power BI and One Stop Reporting;
You will manage the planning and control cycle, and together with your colleague, you will prepare the financial statements and oversee the audits;
If necessary, you will assist with various administrative tasks.

What are we looking for?

HBO/MBO+ level of work and thinking, supplemented by a completed financial education and at least 5 years of relevant work experience;
You have a proactive attitude and are solution-oriented;
You have excellent communication skills that allow you to engage non-financial stakeholders as well;
You are familiar with Power BI and, preferably, with Visma.net ERP.
