At Nieuwsuur, we bring to light stories that move and provoke thought. Our editorial team’s goal is to serve as a well-informed guide for viewers and visitors, both on TV and online. Our viewers don’t just want to know what’s happening, but also how and why. From various angles, we take a critical look at current developments and share revealing facts and new perspectives with a broad audience. As of October 1, 2024, the editorial team at Nieuwsuur is looking for anExperienced Online Journalist(36 hours per week)

Here's what you'll be doing:

You’ll come up with and pitch compelling, surprising topics for Nieuwsuur’s current affairs-focused, longer-form videos. These videos are often edited down and broadcast on TV;
You enjoy collaborating with people from a variety of fields: experienced reporters, investigative journalists, designers, data journalists, OSINT specialists, and production colleagues. Together, you create unique, distinctive, or revelatory journalistic stories;
So you’ll conduct independent research, interview guests, write scripts, edit (together with an editor), and ensure that viewers can watch a 20- or 30-minute video all the way through without getting bored.

This is you:

You have extensive experience in journalism: you have strong content expertise and are well-informed about current events;
You work with precision, and even when things get hectic, you remain calm under pressure: you can easily distinguish between what’s important and what isn’t;
You prefer to work as part of a team;
You're creative, and to keep viewers engaged, you come up with the right narrative style for the story;
You should ideally have strong editing skills, preferably in Avid;
You have a creative way with words and know how to strike the right tone for an online audience;
You are flexible regarding your work hours during news events;
You get a boost of energy from following up on a difficult issue and getting to the bottom of it.

Here's what we offer:

A one-year contract, preferably starting October 1, 2024, with the possibility of extension. Depending on knowledge and experience, this position is compensated within salary grade G (range between €3,118.48 and €4,757.41) or H (range between €3,651.03 and €5,742.43) of the broadcasting collective bargaining agreement.
