Are you our new curator who will invite artists to create monumental art in a space that looks like a work of art in its own right? On the first floor of the former Willem Twee factory in ’s-Hertogenbosch, a beautiful hall has been set aside for high-profile exhibitions, often with an interdisciplinary focus. An average of six exhibitions are organized annually. You will curate exhibitions and, in close collaboration with the artists, oversee the creation of new work and the entire installation process. You will contribute to the development of policy guidelines.
Art and work in a multifunctional exhibition space.
The exhibition space features a number of flexible workspaces that allow people to work surrounded by art. The art space also adjoins several meeting rooms that exude the same beautiful industrial atmosphere. By connecting art and workspaces, we bring people and worlds closer together and hope to foster greater mutual understanding. Our new curator will play a key role in further developing this concept.
At Willem Twee, a venue for music and visual arts in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, music and visual arts come together: from classical to heavy metal, from exhibition space to production facility for artists and musicians. Willem Twee has two locations. The main building, a former cigar factory dating from 1898, houses the Willem Twee Art Space, the Willem Twee Pop Stage, a lunch café, various music rehearsal rooms, studios for artists, designers, writers, and architects, two film studios, and a graphic design workshop. The second location in the city center houses the Willem Twee Toonzaal (a concert hall for acoustic music), the Willem Twee Studios, and the associated workshop for electronic music.
You are an expert in contemporary visual arts and are well-informed about current developments in this field. You have an eye and a passion for curating interdisciplinary exhibitions. You have strong connections in the cultural sector and are a skilled networker. You possess organizational skills and are also seeking to deepen your knowledge of the subject matter. You can work well independently but also enjoy collaborating with others. You have a way with words and can express yourself clearly in Dutch and English. You are interested in the other disciplines represented at Willem Twee and are willing to collaborate with music programmers to develop crossovers and establish partnerships with other institutions.
A position in a professional and dynamic team, where there is plenty of room for cross-pollination between cultural disciplines. You will be offered a one-year contract for 24 hours per week. The position is classified in pay grade 7 of the Collective Labor Agreement for Dutch Pop Venues and Festivals (CAO NPF). Your pay grade depends on experience and starts at €2,728.14 for full-time employment. You are entitled to an 8% vacation allowance and 190 hours of leave on a full-time basis. The appointment will be extended based on satisfactory performance. You will also accrue pension benefits.
Willem Twee Music and Visual Arts strives to be a diverse and inclusive organization. We aim to ensure that our workforce reflects society in all its diversity. Our job openings are open to everyone. When candidates are equally qualified, we give preference to the candidate who enhances diversity within our organization.
