About the SER

The Social and Economic Council (SER) advises the government and parliament on the broad outlines of socio-economic policy. The SER also facilitates agreements and covenants and performs administrative tasks. Independent members appointed by the Crown, employers, and employees work together within the SER. The organization has a staff of approximately 140 full-time equivalents.

SER staff work in a particularly dynamic environment. They operate in close proximity to the political sphere, collaborating with a wide range of civil society organizations that often have divergent interests. Policy officers work in project teams to address current socioeconomic issues. The organization has an informal atmosphere.

Communications Advisor for Diversity, Inclusion, and Sustainable Employability

About the role

As a communications advisor, you will advise the organization on how communication can help ensure the impact of our recommendations and projects. You will develop and implement communication plans. In addition, you will be responsible for representing the Lifelong Development theme and the SER Diversity in the Workplace project, as well as for communicating with the network of over 435 signatories to the Diversity Charter. You will be part of the Communications Advisory and Spokesperson Team, which is part of the Communications Department. The team consists of 10 communications advisors.

What will you be doing? 

• You will help shape the SER’s communication policy.
• You will coordinate and produce newsletters, publications, press releases, and (online) articles.
• You keep up with developments in the field of online media and put them into practice.
• You will assist with events, organize and host webinars, other (online) meetings, and video productions.
• You will bring complex topics to the attention of relevant media outlets in an accessible way and coordinate press inquiries.

Who are you? 

• You have a college-level education and way of thinking.
• You have at least several years of work experience as a communications advisor in a political and administrative environment involving a wide range of stakeholders.
• You have knowledge of and an affinity for one or more aspects of diversity and sustainable employability.
• You have the ability to convince various stakeholders of your ideas and viewpoints in an inspiring and tactful manner, even in complex situations.
• Your tenacity enables you to set clear priorities and stay motivated in working toward achieving (shared) goals.
• By nature, you are a (pro)active networker who is committed to the common good and thrives on building and maintaining relationships.

What do we offer you?

This is a position for a minimum of 32 hours and a maximum of 38 hours per week, initially for one year, with the possibility of a permanent contract. The salary depends on your knowledge and experience and ranges from a minimum of €4,111 to a maximum of €5,403 gross per month for full-time employment (38 hours). To ensure that all candidates are evaluated consistently, we use scoring forms. We use these to assess job-specific criteria during the application process and to evaluate job-specific competencies during interviews and writing assignments. During the interviews, we ask all candidates the same questions so that we can assess the extent to which they meet the job requirements.

The first interviews will take place on June 19, 2023, and the second interviews on Monday, June 26, and Tuesday, June 27, 2023. A writing assignment is part of the application process. We aim to complete the application process by the end of June.
