Are you an analytical thinker who doesn’t just look at numbers, but wants to tell the story behind them? Would you like to put your expertise to work for a nonprofit organization located in the heart of the Mediapark, and do you effortlessly bridge the gap between spreadsheets and day-to-day operations? Our Business Control team is looking for a Business Controller with strong communication skills (32–36 hours per week)
As our new Business Controller, you’ll be right in the thick of things and serve as a strategic partner for our budget managers. You’ll take on a challenging and impactful set of responsibilities where your expertise makes a direct difference. You look beyond the issues of the day; thanks in part to your sharp insights, forecasts, and advice, you help steer our course. You not only guide the budget holders but also constructively challenge them and proactively advise on financial risks and opportunities. In addition, you develop and evaluate business cases for new initiatives and advise management on the financial implications of key decisions.
You understand better than anyone that numbers only truly reveal their value when you know the story behind them. You meticulously analyze reports and general ledger entries, quickly identify discrepancies, and immediately reach out to colleagues on the front lines to determine the underlying causes. With your forward-thinking approach to control, you continue to build toward the future; using digital tools and a healthy dose of creativity, you take our reports and processes to the next level.
You won’t be doing this alone. You’ll be part of a team of 15 professionals in the Accounting Department, which includes financial accounting, business control, project control, and procurement and contract management.
In short: a key role full of challenges, energy, and plenty of opportunities to make your mark!
Your first contract will be for one year. If we’re both satisfied, we’ll be happy to renew it. The gross monthly salary (on a full-time basis) ranges from a minimum of €4,445.43 to a maximum of €5,794.95 (Scale 11 of the Image & Sound Collective Labor Agreement).
As much as we enjoy working at Beeld & Geluid, we also place a high value on free time. That’s why you get a generous 25 vacation days and 24 ATV days per year (on a full-time basis). Can’t use them all? Then you can also use your vacation days for other fun things, such as buying an (electric) bike, a laptop, or taking that dream trip. We use a cafeteria model for this.
We have a hybrid work setup: maybe you’d like to drop the kids off at school in the morning, or work out for an hour, before heading to the office? Or perhaps you’d prefer a set day each week to work from home? We trust that you’re best able to decide what works best for you and for us. That’s why we provide an expense allowance for working from home and for commuting, depending on where you’re working!
First and foremost, we are a modern media institution with one of the largest and most advanced archives in the world. We preserve a wide variety of media, including radio and television programs, video games, print media, political posters, podcasts, websites, and physical objects. We’re so much more than that! We’re also a surprising, inspiring, creative, and welcoming gathering place for everyone. From individual visitors to professional media creators, everyone is welcome—and connecting with others is in our DNA. We organize countless public events, debates, and lectures for people of all ages. We offer schools a wide range of workshops and support academic and journalistic research.
With some 500 dedicated colleagues—including, of course, our invaluable volunteers and interns—we work every day from our vibrant headquarters in Hilversum to help build an open, free, inclusive, and media-literate society.
At Beeld & Geluid, we place a high value on diversity and inclusion, including in the composition of our teams. No matter what your background is, what you believe in, or who you’re attracted to, we believe it’s important that you contribute enthusiastically to our shared ambitions and goals.
We’d love to hear just how enthusiastic you are! Apply by June 16 using the application button and be sure to include your resume (in PDF format). We’d love to see a (short) cover letter—feel free to surprise us with the format! If you’d like to learn more about this position first, please contact Florence van Duijvendijk, CFO, at 035-6774999.
