An organization that maintains a high public profile and communicates effectively. Media appearances that foster understanding, trust, and social impact. As a spokesperson for Victim Support Netherlands, you’ll serve as the link between the organization, the media, and the public. With your communication skills, sensitivity, and decisiveness, you’ll make a real difference. Interested? Apply today!

You give victims and the organization a powerful voice in the media.

This will be your job

As part of a communications team of seven professionals, you will help build the visibility and positioning of Victim Support Netherlands within an organization with more than 1,000 employees.

You will work closely with the senior spokesperson, and together you will serve as the primary point of contact for media inquiries. You will write and distribute press releases, maintain contact with journalists, and contribute ideas regarding messaging, interview preparation, and the organization’s stance on current social issues. In addition, you will assist with content for social media and other media outlets, such as documentaries and podcasts.

In the event of emergencies or incidents, you are flexible and available outside of office hours if necessary.

This is what it's all about

You will be working for a dedicated organization where your expertise is valued. In your role, you will help ensure that greater attention is paid to the voices and interests of victims in the media and to raising awareness of the services provided by Victim Support Netherlands. You will also receive:

  • A one-year contract with an option to renew.
  • Training opportunities and access to the Skills Town learning platform.
  • A personalized budget: 26 additional hours of leave, 8% vacation pay, and an 8.3% year-end bonus—to be used however you like. (Based on a 36-hour workweek)
  • An NS business card, for business travel in second class.
  • An individual career budget.

Who are you?

We are looking for a colleague who is confident, proactive, and politically and administratively savvy. You have a way with words, an eye for social trends, and the ability to easily adapt to different audiences and interests; you also know how to communicate complex topics clearly and in a people-oriented manner.

You also have:

  • A completed associate’s or bachelor’s degree, for example in communication, journalism, or a related field;
  • Experience as a spokesperson or public relations officer;
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written;
  • Experience with media relations, developing messaging strategies, and preparing for interviews.
