A man who is coming to terms with a traffic accident by talking with the victim. A woman who receives acknowledgment from the other person after inappropriate behavior. And a victim who corresponds by mail with the perpetrator following a criminal offense. As a mediator, you facilitate contact between those involved after a traumatic event. In your work, you can make a difference in people’s lives. Ready to get started? Apply today.
A crime, a traffic accident, or (sexually) inappropriate behavior can have a major impact on those directly involved. Those involved may include victims, bereaved family members, suspects, perpetrators, and those responsible, as well as family members and witnesses. As a mediator, you organize and facilitate contact between these individuals. This contact often takes the form of a conversation, but can also involve correspondence or a group discussion. You manage the process, carefully prepare each step, and monitor the expectations and boundaries of all those involved. In doing so, you work closely with colleagues and partners in the justice and healthcare sectors.
You actively contribute ideas on organizational development and take the initiative to lead projects independently. Peer review, on-the-job coaching, and training sessions are an important part of your work. You work closely with our partners in the justice system, such as the Police, the Probation Service, correctional facilities, the Public Prosecutor’s Office, Victim Support Netherlands, and NOC-NSF. And you serve as an ambassador within the region. You are always looking for opportunities to strengthen and professionalize our collaboration, with both existing and new partners.

For more than 15 years, the Perspectief Restorative Mediation Foundation has been the leading organization for restorative mediation in the Netherlands. A crime, a traffic accident, or sexual misconduct can have a significant emotional impact on those directly involved. Those involved may include victims, bereaved family members, suspects, perpetrators, and those responsible, as well as family members and witnesses.
The mediators are based throughout the Netherlands. They typically work within their own region but can be deployed nationwide if necessary. The organization is managed and the mediators are supported from the national office in Utrecht. You will work from home most of the time, but you will also regularly visit the national office and/or the offices of our network partners. You will also conduct interviews at correctional facilities.
Perspectief Herstelbemiddeling believes that a more diverse workforce and an inclusive corporate culture, focused on fostering connections between people, can be the key to more innovative ways of collaborating, greater flexibility, and better service delivery. We therefore seek proportional representation in terms of knowledge, experience, age, gender, and background. When candidates are equally qualified, we will give preference to the person who contributes to a more diverse workforce.
Submitting a Certificate of Good Conduct is part of the procedure.
