For more than 15 years, the Perspectief Restorative Mediation Foundation has been the leading organization for restorative mediation in the Netherlands. A crime, a traffic accident, or sexual misconduct can have a significant emotional impact on those directly involved. Those involved may include victims, bereaved family members, suspects, perpetrators, and those responsible, as well as family members and witnesses. The wishes and needs of these individuals are paramount during restorative mediation.

What will you be doing?

As a mediator, you organize and facilitate communication between these individuals. This communication often takes the form of a conversation, but can also involve an exchange of letters or a group discussion. You carefully prepare for the interaction with all parties and continuously align expectations and preferences.

You will work closely with our supply chain partners and serve as an ambassador for our company within your region. In this role, you will seek opportunities to strengthen and professionalize this collaboration with both existing and new partners.

You will be actively involved in various initiatives and projects within our organization. Peer review, on-the-job coaching, and training sessions will be an important part of your work.

What do you bring to the table?

You must have at least a bachelor’s degree. It is an advantage if you have acquired legal and/or psychological knowledge.
You are able to manage complex (communication) processes
Experience working with victims or offenders and/or experience with mediation and/or experience with complaint handling/complaint management is a plus.
Networking is one of your strengths.
You're good at balancing speed, decisiveness, and attention to detail.
You have an entrepreneurial and proactive attitude and an eye for company-wide developments.
You are good at planning and organizing your own work.
You live in the The Hague–Leiden area.

Where will you be working?

The more than twenty mediators are based throughout the Netherlands. They typically work within their own region but can be deployed nationwide when necessary. The organization is managed and the mediators are supported from the national office in Utrecht. You will work from home most of the time but will also regularly be at the national office and/or the offices of our partner organizations. You will also conduct interviews in correctional facilities. Chain partners you will collaborate with include the police, the Probation Service, the Judicial Institutions Service, the Public Prosecutor’s Office, Victim Support Netherlands, NOC-NSF (Center for Safe Sport Netherlands), probation organizations, and the personal injury claims sector.

A one-year contract for 24–32 hours per week, with the possibility of a permanent position.
