A province with no traffic fatalities: that’s what you’ll be working toward in this advisory and coordinating role. A goal that brings daily satisfaction!
How do we ensure that everyone in the province of North Holland can get from A to B safely? This question is central to your role as a road safety advisor. In fact, you’ll be responsible for driving progress in this area to prevent as many traffic accidents as possible. And you’ll ensure that road safety is integrated with other major challenges, such as housing development. Impact guaranteed: you’ll be contributing to an issue that affects all of our residents and visitors.
Advising, connecting, coordinating, and prioritizing: in your role, you do it all. And you do it for an issue that affects everyone. As a province, we are all too aware of this. That is why, in collaboration with partners, weare driving road safety forward, with the ultimate goal of zero traffic fatalities by 2050. Wouldn’t it be great to advise colleagues from other departments and partners like the police, municipalities, and Rijkswaterstaat on this topic—whether they ask for it or not? You’ll do this in a province with a wide variety of infrastructure. For example, we maintain over 600 kilometers of roads, 250 kilometers of waterways, 50 kilometers of public transit tracks, 400 kilometers of bike paths, 10 locks, and about 550 bridges.
What does your work look like in practice? It’s varied! One moment you’re advising on permits for an exit route or on traffic measures for large-scale events like Mysteryland or Sail Amsterdam. The next, you’re making traffic decisions, while also taking on an advisory role in the objection and appeal process. In addition, you’ll be involved in the implementation of European legislation. And sometimes you’ll visit a location where a traffic accident recently occurred to assess whether measures are needed there. It’s clear that you’ll get to know our province well—and build a great network.
And that’s not all. Visitwww.noord-holland.nl/werkenbijto find out what else you can expect as an employee at Noord-Holland.
