Working toward change
One-third of 15-year-olds have low literacy skills. A significant number of young people also lack digital skills. This weakens their position in society. Life requires more than just a thumbs-up on TikTok. Moreover, many teenagers say that their smartphones have made it harder for them to learn. They’re losing motivation. We want to change that. We need to change course. Libraries and reading consultants are looking for new ideas to help children in vocational secondary education (VMBO). Our education team supports them in this effort. We need reinforcements, which is why we’re looking for you.
You will advise our libraries on a collaborative language and digital strategy with secondary schools. In addition, you will support a group of library reading consultants who work with vocational secondary schools (VMBO) to improve teenagers’ language skills. Occasionally, you will work at a library on a short-term basis to achieve the results you have in mind. Digital citizenship is new territory for many libraries. Together with your colleagues, you’ll show them how to help teenagers navigate the digital society.
Please send your application (cover letter and resume) to vacature@probiblio.nl, addressed to Erica Vos – Meijer, Education Manager. Be sure to clearly state the job title “Language and Digital Advisor for VMBO (2).” Our job openings are open to everyone, and we are always looking for talented individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences.
Would you like to learn more first? Please give Erica a call at 06 41 01 05 54. She’ll be happy to help.
The first interviews will take place during the week of March 25, and the second interviews a week later.
See who your coworkers will be!
In the coming years, we will be working closely with our libraries to focus strongly on language, digital literacy, and inclusion. The world is becoming increasingly digital, and together with libraries, we want to ensure that no one is left behind (or excluded from society). It’s never too early to start building basic skills like language and digital literacy. Our education team is expanding and will have many job openings in the coming months. Share them with your network. Together, we’re building a society where there’s a place for everyone and no one feels left out.
Probiblio advises public libraries in North and South Holland. We assist them with research, provide new insights, and offer advice on digitization, HR, and their operations. Together with the library, we develop educational policies and support the library in implementing and ensuring their success. In doing so, we help libraries put themselves on the map. In addition, we transport books and materials. We are happy to do so. Libraries are incredibly important: they connect society.
