As a Development & Specialization (D&S) Consultant for Complex Firefighting, you are a specialist in incident response within complex and large-scale industrial and urban environments, as well as the maritime sector. You naturally have experience with project-based work, are results-oriented, and can achieve results within a complex landscape involving diverse interests! You stay abreast of internal and external developments and translate this into effective policies and their implementation.
The strong growth, transformation, and changing infrastructure of the Amsterdam-Amstelland region call for strategic and area-specific adjustments to fire services on the one hand, and on the other hand, the development of a fire service model that is adaptive and tailored to the risks. This leads to a deepening and expansion of the scope of duties in areas such as: Underground firefighting, Industrial firefighting, and Marine incident response.
Working in the Operational Planning Department means you help create the conditions for the Amsterdam-Amstelland Fire Department’s units to respond to incidents quickly, efficiently, and safely.
As a consultant:
In short, you will serve as a specialist advisor in the field of complex firefighting, both internally and externally.
Are you a team player who can bring departments and colleagues together to tackle and solve complex challenges?
Can you bring energy and get results? Then we’re looking for you!
Members of the O&S team work on projects that require specialized firefighting expertise in the fields of fire, emergency response, hazardous materials, and large-scale and specialized operations. These are projects that touch the core of the emergency response process (such as modernizing emergency response capabilities or implementing new equipment). In such cases, this team usually provides the project leader. At other times, the O&S team provides expertise to offer substantive advice (such as topics for drills and refresher training or advice on procedures or working methods).
At the Amsterdam-Amstelland Safety Region, you’ll be part of a great team where you can grow professionally.
The Amsterdam-Amstelland Fire Department is part of the Amsterdam-Amstelland Safety Region. The Operational Planning Division, a team of approximately 28 colleagues, is part of the Fire Services Sector.
The Public Transport Division consists of three teams: Information-Driven Incident Response (IGIB), Accessibility & Firefighting Water (B&B), and Development and Specialization (O&S). You will be working within the O&S team. The O&S team acts as a link between prevention and response, facilitating and advising on the direction of the fire department’s response process. The team plays a crucial role in ensuring the quality of the fire department’s response operations. The O&S team is tasked with (co-)ensuring that response personnel are professionally competent, well-prepared, and informed, capable of working with tactics and techniques that keep pace with the times. Wearing a uniform is mandatory in some situations.
