We host more than 350 events each year. From cabaret, music, dance, and theater to television productions, business meetings, and pop concerts. Everything takes place at our two venues, the Stadsschouwburg and the PHIL in the center of Haarlem. We need you to ensure that the technical aspects of a performance or event are properly managed. Due to an increase in the number of large (international) pop concerts, we are currently seeking a Theater Technician specializing in sound and/or AV for 32–36 hours per week.

The Stadsschouwburg and the PHIL are the two largest venues in the city of Haarlem. The organization consists of 50 full-time staff members, 50 catering staff, and a team of volunteers, who work together to ensure that all performances and events at both venues run smoothly. In addition to the Head of Department, the Theater Technology Department consists of 4 stage managers, 5 technicians, and a planner.
What will you be doing?
As a theater technician, you are responsible for the preparation and technical execution of performances, concerts, and commercial events. But the job involves more than just the technical aspects. Building positive relationships with performers and their (technical) staff is also very important. With the variety of events we host and our two premier venues, no two days are ever the same!
A sample of your responsibilities:

- You will assist, facilitate, and collaborate with visiting companies and their technicians during cultural performances or the organization of commercial events;
- You ensure that everything goes according to plan and come up with creative solutions and perspectives;
- At conferences and events where we don't have our own technicians, you'll handle the sound on your own.
- Whether asked or not, you provide advice on maintaining and keeping technical equipment up to date.
What are we looking for?
- You understand the technical processes involved in various types of events;
- You can handle FOH or monitors independently and are a capable counterpart for technicians from international companies;
- You have a professional demeanor and enjoy working with others, but you are also capable of working independently;
- You don’t mind working irregular hours (mostly in the evenings and on weekends);
- You hold relevant certifications such as BHV, VCA, or VOP, or are willing to obtain them at our expense.
What do we offer?
- A varied job at top venues in downtown Haarlem;
- Working in a dynamic organization with a lot of specialized equipment;
- An enthusiastic team of welcoming and passionate colleagues;
- Salary in accordance with pay scale 5 of the Dutch Performing Arts Collective Bargaining Agreement;
- You will work on a rotating schedule and receive an irregular hours allowance in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement;
- You can attend many concerts and performances for free and bring a guest along; this applies not only to our own venues but also to partner venues throughout the city;
- You will be offered a one-year contract, with the possibility of a permanent position.
