
As a theater technician, you work on the technical production of performances, concerts, and commercial events. With your expertise in lighting, sound, or AV, you ensure that everything runs smoothly. But the job involves more than just the technical aspects. Building rapport with performers and their (technical) staff is also very important.
The Stadsschouwburg and the PHIL are Haarlem’s two largest venues. We organize more than 350 events a year: from hip-hop to dance, theater, and cabaret at the Stadsschouwburg. And from pop and classical concerts to soul performances, television productions, corporate events, and conferences at the PHIL. Our team works with passion to make all of this happen. We are a single organization with two prominent venues in the heart of Haarlem. Our team, consisting of 55 full-time staff members, approximately 50 hospitality staff, and a dedicated group of volunteers, works together to ensure that all performances and events run smoothly. In addition to the head of the department, the Theater Technology department consists of 4 stage managers, 6 technicians, and a production assistant.

With your expertise in lighting, sound, or AV, you ensure that everything runs smoothly. You are personally responsible for your area of expertise on any given day. But the job involves more than just technical work. Building warm relationships with performers and their (technical) staff is also very important. Thanks to the variety of events and our two premier venues, no two days are the same.

You are a stress-resistant (theater) technician who can work independently in one or more areas of expertise. You understand that irregular working hours are part of the job, and you’re fine with that.
