What will you be doing?

You might not believe it, but behind the scenes at a library organization, there’s a lot going on. There’s a great deal happening in the areas of learning and development, books (collections), digital inclusion, low literacy, organizational management, finance, and marketing. Libraries have fascinating opportunities for you.

A few examples:

• How can a library ensure that everyone will soon be able to participate in the digital society?
• What steps can we take to reduce low literacy rates?
• How do you implement data management in a library organization?
• What digital innovations can you use to improve efficiency?
• How can we encourage children ages 0 to 18 to read (more)?
• What criteria can you use to ensure that a library’s collection meets the needs of its visitors?
• What should libraries do to raise awareness of their activities even further?
• How do you transform a traditional library into a community library for information, education, and development?
• An assignment lasts 8 months. After that, it’s time for a new project at another library organization in North or South Holland.

Who are we?

Probiblio is a provincial support organization (POI). We provide advice and practical support to 36 library organizations in North and South Holland. We assist them with research, provide new insights, and offer advice on digitization, HR, and operational management. Together with the libraries, we develop (educational) policies and help them implement and ensure compliance with these policies. In addition, we transport books and materials. We are happy to do so, because libraries connect society. They are incredibly important.

Job Requirements

• You have a bachelor's or master's degree.
• You are interested in the library sector and its social responsibilities.
• You graduated no more than two years ago.
• You are curious, independent, and not afraid to think outside the box.
• You are confident and resilient.
• You are empathetic and enjoy helping others.
• Ideally, you live in North or South Holland.
• You are willing to commute a considerable distance (our service area extends from Den Helder to Goeree-Overflakkee).

Guidance and Development

Probiblio’s Talent Manager and a library mentor will guide you as you carry out your assignments. In addition to this on-the-job training, we’ve put together an inspiring development program for you, consisting of soft skills and subject-specific training, a group assignment, peer review, and one-on-one coaching. Everything is designed to help you get the most out of your personal leadership skills, giving your professional career a kickstart.

Our offerings

• A two-year contract (September 2024 through August 2026)
• Starting salary of €2,898.00 gross per month
• After one year, your salary will be increased to €2,968.00 gross per month, provided your performance is satisfactory
• 8% vacation pay and 4% year-end bonus
• A solid pension plan through the Public Libraries Pension Fund
• A 36-hour workweek
• 5 weeks of leave for full-time employment (36 hours)
• The option to purchase two weeks of additional leave
• An iPhone or Samsung plus a laptop
• An NS business card or a commuting allowance
