Do you already have a bachelor’s or master’s degree and want to start working as a police officer in the Rotterdam Unit? The accelerated bachelor’s program in police work begins in November 2025. In this accelerated program, you’ll learn and work in a practical setting. This allows you to gain extensive work experience that you can immediately apply to your coursework. Upon completion of the work-study program, you will have a recognized police degree, and we guarantee you a job.

Your area of expertise

The Rotterdam District covers a highly diverse and dynamic area, including Europe’s largest port, as well as urban centers in the Randstad and rural areas. The neighborhoods within the Rotterdam District are home to a very diverse population. This creates a unique dynamic and presents a variety of safety challenges.

To connect with everyone who needs us, we need police officers from diverse cultural backgrounds on our frontline teams. This ensures that everyone in the Rotterdam Unit’s service area feels represented by their police force and feels comfortable approaching the police.

Who we're looking for

You hold a full-fledged, accredited bachelor’s degree from a university of applied sciences or a research university.
You are familiar with social and safety issues through your studies or work experience.
At the start of the program, you must be a Dutch citizen (this may also be your second citizenship).
Within 9 months of starting your program, you will have obtained a Class B driver’s license, allowing you to immediately begin taking the coursework and driving tests. If you do not yet have a driver’s license, you can take advantage of thefinancial assistance available for obtaining one.

The selection

Before you can begin the bachelor’s program, we assess the required qualities and competencies during the selection process. The selection process consists of:

Sports Test and Verification Test on the Online Tests

This program is currently undergoing government review for official recognition as a bachelor’s degree program. This process takes some time. We expect to receive this recognition in early 2024. We will, of course, keep you informed.
