You’ll be joining the marketing & retail team, which consists of 13 people. With this team, Vogelbescherming aims to strengthen its membership and fundraising efforts in the coming years. Will you join us?
BirdLife Netherlands advocates for wild birds and their habitats. In the Netherlands and worldwide. Vogelbescherming was founded in 1899 and is the organization in the Netherlands dedicated to the protection of all wild birds and their habitats. They are part of BirdLife International, an umbrella organization of 117 bird and nature organizations. They contribute to a livable world and the conservation of nature and are known to the general public for:
- National Garden Bird Count: During the last weekend of January, people all over the Netherlands will once again be counting garden birds! The National Garden Bird Count is part of the largest citizen science project in the Netherlands.
- Experience Spring, starting in late February. Every year, Vogelbescherming celebrates spring with cameras in nest boxes. Hundreds of thousands of people faithfully follow the birds’ ups and downs during the breeding season each year.
- The ambitious "Wij&Wadvogels" project ;Bird Protection Netherlands is safeguarding the Netherlands’ only natural UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Wadden Sea, through a well-planned program and activities.
What will you be doing?
- The database contains nearly 1 million contacts, and with your knowledge and experience, you know the best way to reach out to this group to encourage them to support Bird Protection;
- Together with your colleagues, you are responsible for membership and fundraising in the private sector;
- You love numbers and enjoy analyzing and collecting relevant data, which you then translate into concrete (test) plans;
- You put yourself in the target audience’s shoes and craft compelling, high-converting copy. In doing so, you collaborate with your immediate colleagues and external partners;
- You ensure that the right message reaches the right recipient at the right time;
- Using KPIs, you will manage and optimize the relationship with—and thus the contribution of—more than 150,000 members.
What does Vogelbescherming offer?
- A challenging and interesting position for 32 hours per week in an organization with a casual work environment, short lines of communication, and motivated colleagues;
- Vogelbescherming believes it is important for people to have opportunities for growth and therefore invests in the well-being of its employees. You will have the opportunity to create a personal development plan with an accompanying budget;
- A gross monthly salary between €3,700 and €5,000 (scale 10 of the Vogelbescherming pay scales) based on full-time employment (40 hours), depending on knowledge and experience. Plus vacation pay and a thirteenth month’s salary;
- Initially, a one-year contract with the intention of eventually extending it to an indefinite term.
- A joint meeting held twice a month where the various departments share knowledge and inspire one another regarding ongoing projects;
- Lunch walks and the opportunity to participate in organized excursions and visit projects organized by the Bird Protection Society;
- It is possible to work from home part of the time, though many colleagues prefer to be in the office a few days a week;
- A location in a beautiful wooded area in Zeist.
What do you bring to the table?
- You have at least a college-level education and way of thinking;
- You have relevant experience in fundraising or (direct) marketing;
- You are an enthusiastic and proactive team player who enjoys working with others;
- You enjoy working in a business-oriented and customer-focused manner and use data analysis to optimize customer relationships;
- You have a strong grasp of numbers, you let the numbers speak for themselves, and you base your fundraising decisions on results;
- You’re a go-getter, you work methodically, can prioritize, and aren’t afraid to make decisions;
- You want to continue growing professionally, and this is possible both in your work and, over time, in your salary.
