Defence for Children Netherlands is looking for a hands-on, creative fundraiser who wants to help ensure a safe childhood for all children.
Use your strategic insights, creative ideas, and excellent communication skills to inspire individual donors and engage them in our mission. Are you up for the challenge? Then we’re looking for you!
You know how to inspire individual donors and engage them in the mission of Defence for Children Netherlands: a safe childhood for every child.
You will be the first person to join Defence for Children Netherlands as a fundraiser. This means you are innovative and capable of developing and implementing fundraising strategies, as well as trying out new ideas. A Private Fundraising Coordinator and the Department Manager have laid the groundwork for this position, and now it’s up to you to further shape it. You will focus on recruiting and retaining donors primarily through online channels, while overseeing the entire process of donor recruitment, management, and communication.
You’ll be part of the Communications and Public Affairs team. It’s a small team of five people who work well together, with team members helping and supporting one another as needed. This team is part of the Communications, Public Affairs & Children’s Rights Helpdesk department. You’ll work closely with a wide range of disciplines across the organization—including children’s rights experts, communications specialists, finance, and our secretariat—to gather the information and insights you need to move forward.
Standing up for the rights of children who are in trouble or at risk of falling into trouble—whether they are stuck in the youth care system, fleeing their homes, or victims of violence or exploitation. Ensuring that all children have access to their rights, can grow up safely, and can develop to their full potential. That is the mission of Defence for Children Netherlands.
Through our Children’s Rights Help Desk, we provide legal support to children whose rights are at risk of being violated. We are unique in the Netherlands in this regard. We conduct research and provide information to professionals, parents, and children. We also work to improve legislation and policy. We focus our efforts on issues related to family, migration, and (sexual) exploitation.
We carry out our work in the Netherlands, but also in various countries around the world through the networks of Defence for Children International and ECPAT International. We have about 30 staff members and five interns based in Leiden.
We welcome all forms of diversity and are committed to being inclusive. We believe it is important for our work to reflect different cultures, approaches, and ways of thinking, and we therefore encourage everyone to apply.
