We are looking for a:
Financial and economic researcher on the climate issues team
(0.8 FTE / 30 hours per week)
What will you be doing?
- You will make substantive contributions to climate issues through analyses of economic trends, such as the effects of divestment or the macroeconomic impact of climate change.
- You’ll keep up with the latest developments in corporate financing and investment, and examine how these align with sustainability requirements.
- You will support Milieudefensie’s claims in campaigns and lawsuits with data on the financial performance of ING and Shell.
- You will assist with quality checks and oversee internal and external studies, such as the annual Climate Crisis Index (KCI).
- You will give presentations on Milieudefensie’s climate cases, particularly the lawsuit against ING, and represent the climate cases team at external meetings.
What are you bringing?
- You have an academic level of work and thinking and are analytically strong.
- You have proven expertise in financial economics and sustainability, as well as at least 2 years of relevant work experience.
- You are able to build and maintain a network of relevant experts.
- You are proficient in Excel and familiar with processing data from databases.
- You have an excellent command of Dutch and English.
- The ability to analyze annual reports is a plus.
Who do you work with?
As a financial and economic researcher, you will be part of the Policy & Advocacy department and a member of the multidisciplinary climate issues team. This team works closely with the lawyers with whom Milieudefensie handles climate cases. In addition, you will work with colleagues within Content & Lobby and with other departments. You will also be in contact with national and international networks of civil society organizations (NGOs) and with scientists.

- A starting salary, depending on your knowledge and experience, ranging from €4,000 to €4,600 for full-time employment. At Milieudefensie, this is a 37.5-hour workweek.
