The position
As a financial advisor, you are responsible for various operational aspects within our organization. You will be involved in budgeting, financial planning, and reporting. This means you will make forecasts, conduct analyses, prepare budgets, produce regular reports, and compile the annual financial statements. You will combine financial data with information on production and personnel. In addition, you will assist management and other executives with the Planning and Control (P&C) cycle. You provide them with clear advice and practical steps they can take.
You monitor and report on project progress, including resource utilization, and report to various stakeholders. You perform complex financial analyses and translate financial information into practical insights, communicating them clearly to both financial and non-financial stakeholders. You also contribute to process improvements by resolving bottlenecks and initiating, formulating, and implementing improvement proposals. In addition, you use management information systems to advise management on how to achieve their goals.
For example, what will you be working on? The National Immunization Program
From a financial perspective, you will play a role in the implementation of the National Immunization Program (RVP). In the Netherlands, municipalities are responsible for implementing the RVP. This program provides vaccinations against diseases such as measles, mumps, rubella, diphtheria, whooping cough, tetanus, and polio at scheduled intervals. You contribute ideas on the implementation of this program from a broad perspective. In doing so, you take into account not only the costs but also the feasibility and the achievement of the desired quality objectives.
Here's what you do on an average day
- Advising and supporting the Management Team, line managers, and project leaders in the areas of finance and the P&C cycle. This includes forecasts, analyses, budgets, periodic reports, and financial statements.
- Translating financial figures into practical terms and performing complex analyses, identifying discrepancies and discussing them with subject matter experts.
- Supporting general (financial) processes, helping to resolve bottlenecks, and formulating and implementing proposals for operational improvements.
- Use information from the management information system, collaborate with others to develop new reports, and maintain the system.
- Supporting project managers with project control, including monitoring and reporting on progress and accounting for results achieved to stakeholders.
