About Stadsschouwburg Utrecht

Stadsschouwburg Utrecht is the vibrant theatrical heart of Utrecht and the surrounding area. We present a wide range of national and international performances across all genres. We also organize special projects, often in collaboration with other venues, festivals, and companies in Utrecht. In addition, our historic building is available for rent. 

We have two theater halls (the Main Hall and the Blue Hall), a café (Mevr. Dudok), and a theater restaurant (Zindering). We welcome more than 200,000 visitors each year. We work closely with the Dutch performing arts community, and with Utrecht-based companies, festivals, and institutions in particular. We also support local Utrecht artists and are strongly committed to education and talent development. We believe it is important that everyone feels welcome. What will you be doing? 

You will be part of the Operations team, reporting to

Head of Operations. Your colleagues are from the Finance, HR, Development, and Administrative departments. The Finance department consists of a Finance Coordinator and two part-time Financial Administrative Assistants.

As an all-around financial administrative assistant, you will work independently and perform the following tasks:

  • You are responsible for accounts receivable management and all invoicing.
  • You will independently review and process the monthly payroll (Polaris).
  • You will work closely with the Finance Coordinator and stand in for him when he is absent.
  • You perform daily checks on the financial records in VismaNet.
  • You will help develop strategies for optimizing processes and systems.
  • You will report to the Finance Coordinator and work under the Deputy Director.

What do you bring to the table?

  • At least an MBO-4 level of work and thinking, preferably in a financial field;
  • You have experience with various applications, including a financial application and Excel;
  • Experience with (or a willingness to learn about) payroll processing and HR systems (such as Polaris);
  • You enjoy working independently, but are also willing to handle the day-to-day oversight of the accounting, either on your own or in close collaboration with the Finance Coordinator.
  • You have a structured approach to your work and enjoy working both independently and as part of a team.
  • We are looking for someone who is ideally available 3 days a week, but 2 days a week is also negotiable.

You will receive a one-year contract, with the intention of extending it to a permanent position if both parties are satisfied. Our terms of employment comply with the Dutch Performing Arts Collective Labor Agreement (CAO Nederlandse Podia), with a salary based on your skills and experience, falling under pay scale 6 of the CAO Nederlandse Podia (min. €2,707.12 and max. €3,664.68 for a 36-hour workweek). You will receive at least 25 vacation days per year. In addition, we add the hours of national holidays to your leave balance. This gives you the freedom to choose which days you take off—for example, on holidays that are important to you.
