Film Programmer (X/F/M)

We are looking for a flexible and enthusiastic colleague with a passion for film and a network within Utrecht’s cultural and visual arts organizations.

Here's what you'll be doing:

• You will be responsible for the daily programming in the movie theater at the Central Library on Neude and for the On Tour programming at various locations throughout Utrecht.
• You will continue existing program lines and develop new ones at new locations.
• You’ll help plan the details of the Hoogt on Tour anniversary celebration
• You will work closely with your colleagues in marketing, education, IT, and the office coordinator.
• You are responsible for achieving policy and operational objectives related to our film and ancillary programming.
• You will coordinate and produce supporting programs, both in the theater and on location.
• You will attend relevant screenings and special events.
• You will handle the financial arrangements and settlement. 

This is you:

• You are enthusiastic and have a flexible attitude.
• You have experience programming arthouse films.
• You are accurate and responsible.
• You enjoy coming up with new ideas and forming partnerships.
• You enjoy speaking in front of a group, for example, to give an introduction or lead a discussion.
• Experience in the cultural sector and/or with other artistic disciplines is a plus.
• Experience with Maccsbox and knowledge of the film distribution chain are a plus.

• A temporary position for 24–35 hours per week.
• Starting in late October/early November, through at least mid-March (possibly longer, subject to agreement).

Hoogt on Tour (formerly Filmtheater 't Hoogt) will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2023.

Together with Fotodok and the Netherlands Film Festival, Hoogt on Tour has taken the initiative to develop the Machinerie: a new venue in Utrecht’s Werkspoorkwartier that will become the premier venue for film and visual culture. In addition to film and other visual art forms, we will also place a special focus on education, emerging artists, and talent development.
