Ruimtetijd is located in a fort surrounded by a 5-hectare estate that forms part of the Defense Line of Amsterdam, situated in a natural setting near Haarlem. Ruimtetijd (Theun Mosk and Balster van Duijn) is developing this UNESCO World Heritage site into a “creative landscape in space and time” based on three core values: Creative Power, Environment, and Social. Themes such as sustainability, social relevance and ownership are guiding principles in the development and realization of this multifaceted space. An estate where creators, artists, young people, and students come together to work on creative projects in the performing arts and the cultural sector.
Located on an island in the north wing of the fort is the studio, an interdisciplinary design team with strong roots in performance art. The studio’s projects are characterized by a combination of design and technical innovation. Building on this foundation, we create installations, museum pieces, exhibitions, landscape works, and theater productions, among other things. In addition, we create designs for prestigious institutions, theaters, and music festivals, both internationally and nationally.
We collaborate with Michel van der Aa, Boukje Schweigman, Jetse Batelaan, Maarten Baas, Pieter Kramer, Sarah Moeremans, Theater Alliantie, the Rijksmuseum, Oerol, Het Zuidelijk Toneel, Mojo, Skânes Danstheater Malmö, Opera Berlin, Warme Winkel, Urland, Wunderbaum, and Robert Wilson, among others.
About the role
The Producer is the visible driving force behind Atelier Ruimtetijd’s activities; he or she has an unparalleled overview of operations and serves as the link between the client, management, and the team.
What will you be doing:
- You will lead the team and ensure smooth operations within the studio (structure and procedures) as well as a pleasant and challenging work environment.
- You will have overall operational responsibility (on a per-project basis) for the entire production chain (budget, planning, pre-production, execution, and evaluation) and for documenting related agreements (e.g., drafting client contracts).
- You’ll have an overview of all activities, create annual and weekly schedules, and ensure the optimal allocation of staff and new requests.
- You serve as the link between management, the team, and clients, ensuring effective, proactive communication and coordination among all parties.
- In addition to maintaining the existing network, you will help expand it further.
- You will schedule and lead the studio meetings and participate in management meetings.
What you'll bring to the table:
- A solid background in manufacturing and at least 5 years of experience in a similar management position.
- A “getting things done” mindset with an eye for the artistic process.
- An independent and organized approach to work, along with experience in “building” a close-knit and motivated team.
- You’re good at switching between the micro and macro levels: you have an eye for detail at the operational level and can step back to maintain the big picture.
- You have a decisive, motivational leadership style; you know how to inspire people and help them reach their full potential so that, together, we can achieve the best possible team results.
It would be great if you have experience developing a new location and building the corresponding organizational structure.
What we offer:
- First and foremost, a fantastic workplace in a great location.
- The opportunity to be part of the sustainable development of a unique natural site through artistically compelling projects that address current themes and have social relevance.
- A competitive salary.
- Opportunities for career advancement in leadership development (business and/or administrative).
- Collaborating with a team of professionals, talented creators, and renowned clients from across the cultural sector.
