The Almeerse Scholen Groep(ASG) is a leading school district in Almere responsible for 38 elementary schools, 2 special education elementary schools, and 8 secondary schools. The Role of the Group Controller

As a Group Controller, you serve as a strategic advisor to the Executive Board and the Supervisory Board, offering an independent and broad perspective on developments both within and outside ASG. You look beyond internal processes and the Planning & Control cycle; your role focuses on the strategic challenges and opportunities arising from external developments, such as changing laws and regulations, municipal and national education priorities, and social issues.

You will also maintain close contact with various schools within ASG to gain a thorough understanding of their challenges and needs. This will help you tailor your recommendations even more closely to the core educational process and bridge the gap between the schools’ day-to-day operations and the organization’s strategic goals.

You have a keen eye for the broader impact of issues such as the teacher shortage, social safety, housing, and the ongoing development of education. Your insight into these issues helps ASG act proactively and with a focus on the future. You provide advice on risk management in the broadest sense and support the organization in making strategic decisions, always taking a comprehensive approach.

Challenges in this role

In your role as Group Controller, you will be working on the following challenges:

• Identifying external trends and developments in education and society and translating these into strategic advice for ASG.
• Contributing to strategic collaboration with external partners such as the municipality, the Primary Education Council, the Secondary Education Council, and the ministry, as well as making sustainable choices that help ASG achieve its social goals.
• Supporting the Executive Board in aligning financial goals with broader organizational objectives and core operations.
• Developing comprehensive risk management strategies that take into account both internal and external factors.

Your profile

You are a strategist with a strong background in finance and business administration who understands how complex organizations operate. You possess well-developed analytical skills and a keen eye for detail, yet you never lose sight of the bigger picture. Your communication skills enable you to explain complex issues in an accessible way.

In addition, you are a people person with an open attitude—someone who combines decisiveness with sensitivity. You exude reliability and integrity, are transparent in your approach, and are a team player. You are an independent thinker and advisor who is sharp when it comes to the content but gentle with people. We’re also looking for a pleasant colleague who enjoys contributing ideas and working collaboratively in teams.

• The pay scale for this position is Scale 14 (CAO VO). The maximum gross monthly salary is €7,936 for a full-time position and is based on education and experience.
