The organization consists of four departments: Conservation, Engagement, Organization & Talent Development, and Finance & Operations (F&O). F&O is responsible for the operational management of WWF-NL and consists of Finance, ICT, and Legal & Compliance. The Legal & Compliance team plays a vital role in providing support and advice to ensure the organization operates in compliance with relevant regulations and (internal) procedures, and this team is seeking aCompliance Coordinator(32–40 hours per week).
In addition to the Compliance Coordinator, the Legal & Compliance team includes the positions of General Counsel, Legal Counsel, Legal Advisor for Legacies, and Procurement & Contract Manager. The Compliance Coordinator reports to the General Counsel, who reports to the Executive Director.
The position
As Compliance Coordinator at WWF-NL, you actively monitor and promote compliance with external and internal (WWF network-wide) integrity rules. In collaboration with other departments, the Compliance Coordinator identifies and monitors the reliability and integrity of WWF-NL’s activities and those of its employees, focusing on privacy, due diligence, risk management, integrity, and compliance risks.
You translate applicable regulations and policies into internal processes and procedures, and you update, coordinate, and implement the relevant policies. You manage compliance issues and assess compliance risks. You do this by engaging with the organization and raising awareness. You also serve as a sparring partner and advisor for the entire organization. WWF-NL is part of the international WWF network, and you will communicate and collaborate with the compliance teams at other WWF offices and WWF International.
The main responsibilities include compliance-related tasks, such as providing advice on GDPR/AVG, and the rollout and implementation of local policies in areas such as integrity, due diligence, anti-fraud and anti-corruption, and risk management. In this role, you will have a great deal of autonomy but also significant responsibility.
Tasks and responsibilities
- You will update the compliance policy and support the development and enforcement of internal (and external) codes of conduct (e.g., regarding privacy, telemarketing, due diligence, risk management, anti-fraud, and anti-corruption).
- You coordinate and serve as an advisor, sounding board, and project leader.
- You initiate and coordinate the dissemination of information to raise awareness of compliance within the organization.
- You play a key role in monitoring compliance matters, and you serve as the internal and external point of contact for compliance and privacy-related issues.
- You actively participate in the ongoing development and improvement of operational processes and procedures within the local organization as well as across the international WWF network.
- You monitor and identify the internal and external regulatory environment of the organization with regard to compliance and privacy, both within the (international) organization itself and within the charitable sector.
- You oversee the application and implementation of the integrity, privacy, and due diligence policies, as well as related policies.
- You oversee the data processing register, approve data processing agreements, monitor the data breach response protocol, and ensure that (D)PIAs are conducted periodically for various key processes within the organization.
- You conduct due diligence checks on collaborating parties.
- You will assist the legal team with their legal activities and help the finance team gain an overview of compliance risks as part of risk management.
Your qualities

- You have a bachelor's or master's degree.
- You have at least 3 years of experience with compliance and privacy policies, as well as their implementation and oversight.

- You are excellent at working on a project basis.
- You are able to anticipate internal and external developments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Dutch.

- Salaries that are in line with the standard in the Dutch nonprofit sector; The minimum gross monthly salary for this role is 3,726 EUR and the maximum monthly salary is 4,654 EUR (based on a 40-hour workweek) (Please note that, due to the maximum salary, we are unable to sponsor a highly skilled migrant permit for individuals over the age of 30 who do not qualify for the reduced salary criterion. - Employees receive a personal budget consisting of an 8% vacation allowance and a 2.08% flexible budget, and are entitled to 6 weeks of vacation per year (based on a 40-hour workweek);
- We encourage flexible work arrangements, the use of public transportation, and biking for work-related travel. Employees receive an NS Business Card for second-class travel to and from work;
- We also have a hybrid work model, so employees can alternate between working from home and from the office.
