The Mondriaan Fund is the largest public fund for visual arts and cultural heritage in the Netherlands. On behalf of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, we support the development of artists and curators, as well as the implementation of projects and activities by museums, art venues, archives, and galleries. In addition, we are responsible for the Dutch entry to the Venice Biennale, and we organize the Prix de Rome and the Prospects survey exhibition during Art Rotterdam.
We are currently looking for a
Communication Specialist (X-V-M)
(32 hours per week)The challenge
Your primary responsibility as a communications specialist is to proactively contribute to supporting and implementing targeted communications. You’ll do this by, among other things:
- writing and posting content on, for example, our website and social media;
- making recommendations on the use of potential communication tools;
- handling internal communications, including employee activities and the internal newsletter;
- maintaining the website, creating and monitoring the content schedule;
- helping to maintain the corporate identity;
- using (digital) measurement tools and analyzing both the website and social media;
- helping to research and identify the channels used by our (potential) target audiences and finding the right tone for the fund on each channel;
- helping to organize public events and activities.
You will carry out all of this in close collaboration with the communications officer and the communications advisors in the department. In addition, you will play an active role in internal communications alongside the HR manager. This includes initiating and facilitating initiatives aimed at fostering connections among colleagues, promoting an open and inclusive organizational culture, and developing appropriate (labor market) communications to support these goals.

- You’re a real go-getter—you have no trouble approaching people (whether in person, online, or over the phone).
- You pick things up naturally and realize that general administrative tasks (such as maintaining the address database and the general inbox) are part of your daily responsibilities.
- You are up to date on the latest developments in online communication.
- You have experience with CMS, basic design tasks, direct mail campaigns, and social media advertising.
- You can tell a story and understand the ins and outs of the media and public relations.
- You're detail-oriented and full of ideas.
- You are skilled at conducting analyses, so you know how to effectively support your ideas with data.
