FLOOR is the cultural platform of the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences. We are young, ambitious, and passionate. By creating programs that address current issues, pressing topics, and surprising perspectives, we bring education, research, and cultural and social organizations closer together. We do this through inspiring speakers, thought-provoking documentaries, engaging workshops, and critical (panel) discussions. Our programs and events are primarily aimed at AUAS students, but are open to everyone.

Your role

As a communications officer/online editor, you will be responsible for all of FLOOR’s communications. You will promote our activities in an engaging, clear, and recognizable way—often within a tight deadline. By resonating with our internal and external audiences through your communications, you will help build their loyalty to us.

You will work closely with FLOOR’s senior communications officer, and you will:

proactively uses cross-media communication to support FLOOR’s activities and brand image;
creates content for social media and other communication channels in the lead-up to and during events;
devises and carries out (fun) activities to promote the programming;
as an editor, ensures that the text is accurate and the visuals are compelling;
creates and sends out the digital newsletter;
keeps the website up to date;
ensures that the FLOOR style complies with the AUAS corporate identity guidelines;
ensures that the event space looks presentable from a communication standpoint.

You will be part of the FLOOR team, which works largely independently. Together with three program producers and a senior communications officer, you will help build on our success.

Since you’ll be working in a small team and a dynamic environment, it’s important that you quickly find your footing within the organization. This means you need to be able to keep an eye on the big picture, adapt quickly, and also pay attention to detail in the execution. Creativity, perseverance, and a flexible attitude are essential for this role.

You work meticulously, have an eye for detail, and perform well under pressure.

You have:

completed a relevant associate's degree program;
At least 1 year of relevant work experience in the communications field;
experience in implementing (marketing) communication projects and an understanding of the possibilities of (marketing) communication;
knowledge of and proven experience with online/web media and the latest developments in that field;
experience or an interest in photo editing;
experience or an interest in interpreting web and social media analytics;
an affinity for information services, higher education, the student demographic, and public programming.

In addition:

You understand how important it is to use the brand guidelines and naming conventions correctly, and you’ll quickly get the hang of it;
Do you have experience with CMS systems, preferably HIPPO/Bloomreach Experience
Do you have experience with Adobe (InDesign, Photoshop, etc.) or other graphic design software?
You have no problem working on-site (at the AUW Wibauthuis).

Having a first aid certification or a willingness to obtain one in the near future is a plus.

Your department

FLOOR is part of the University of Applied Sciences Library. The UvA/HvA Library provides information services to students and staff at the University of Amsterdam and the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences through a (digital) library, educational and research support services, and a pleasant on-site study environment.

Your employment terms and conditions

We are offering a position for 24 to 32 hours per week for a period of one year, with a two-month probationary period. This position falls under pay scale 8 (HBO collective bargaining agreement). The salary ranges from a minimum of €2,756.90 to a maximum of €3,691.27 gross per month for a full-time position.

If both parties are satisfied, the contract will be converted to a permanent position after one year. The AUAS offers a comprehensive benefits package, including generous vacation time and a year-end bonus.
