Are you passionate about making a sustainable impact on the Amsterdam region? Does helping partners achieve their goals and fostering collaboration give you a sense of fulfillment? If so, please read on.

The Amsterdam Economic Board is a unique regional network that brings together decision-makers and change agents from businesses, research institutions, government agencies, and civil society organizations into coalitions. Together, we work on solutions to the major, complex challenges facing the Amsterdam region. Our mission: a future-proof economy with sustainable earning power and a focus on people and nature.

This is no easy task. However, it does offer many opportunities to make an impact on our immediate environment. To achieve the best results, both our network and we ourselves need to make tough choices. And we need to focus on transitions where we, as a helix partnership, can truly make a difference. That is why we are working with the network in coalitions toward three strategic goals of regional importance.

You can read more about it in this news article about our new direction.

What will you be doing?

Our organization is undergoing a transformation, with new roles and competencies, such as entrepreneurship and network management. This will enable us to fully dedicate ourselves to working toward our chosen goals.

The position of Coalition Manager is a new role at the Amsterdam Economic Board. You will develop the network and connect partners within coalitions. Building trust among partners is essential for a successful collaboration. You will not do this alone, but in close collaboration with the coalition coordinators and the entire team.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • You serve as a unifying liaison for all parties involved and know how to inspire and rally them around a common goal. In doing so, you structure the process in such a way that, as an independent mediator, you build trust and break down barriers to collaboration;
  • You build coalitions of partners within the initiative you are working on and help shape a unifying narrative and strategic agenda;
  • Through network management, you ensure that coalitions set and achieve short- and medium-term goals;
  • You actively strive to make an impact, and you know how to inspire partners and align them with the chosen goal;
  • You will secure (additional) funding and ensure that results are sustained or scaled up;
  • You are actively committed to raising awareness of the helix collaboration and the role of the Amsterdam Economic Board within it, both within and outside the region.

As mentioned, this is a new role, and there is some flexibility to shape it according to your own preferences.

This is you

  • You have a clear vision and are an experiencedthought leaderon metropolitan/regional economic issues, systemic transitions, and the role of helix collaboration in this context;
  • You have extensive experience in organizing public-private partnerships, stakeholder and transition management, network management, and change management;
  • You are entrepreneurial and highly focused on (developing) partnerships, building momentum, and achieving concrete goals;
  • You have strong communication skills, are a strategic partner in discussions, and can function effectively in a complex, multidisciplinary environment with diverse (and sometimes conflicting) interests. You know how to get executives and other leaders to commit to the chosen long-term goal;
  • You have experience leading groups and facilitating processes, and you know how to align these efforts with a common goal and guide them toward a shared outcome;
  • You are a skilled networker and a strong connector with both a (political) administrative network within government agencies and within the business community and research institutions in the Amsterdam region;
  • You have knowledge of and an interest in the (new) economy, broad prosperity, social and technological innovation, the labor market and education, financing, and/or public spaces;
  • You have an excellent command of Dutch and English, both spoken and written;
  • You have at least 7 years of work experience in a relevant position.

This is what we stand for

Everyone is different, and it is precisely these differences that help us gain an even better understanding of the metropolis of tomorrow. We’re curious about your talents—what makes you special. We’d love to hear your ideas and perspectives. That helps us make an even greater impact together.

What do we offer?

  • An immediate opening for 32–40 hours per week;
  • Salary range: €5,935 – €7,848 gross per month (based on a 40-hour workweek), depending on your experience;
  • In addition to vacation and year-end bonuses, a laptop, the option to work from home, and reimbursement for bicycle mileage and phone expenses;
  • The Amsterdam Economic Board has a fantastic team of 13 full-time equivalents who work closely with one another and with our valuable network of 130 partners;
  • A great place to work with passionate, skilled, and enterprising colleagues and a casual, team-oriented atmosphere. The Amsterdam Economic Board is an inclusive organization that leverages the strength of its diverse workforce to achieve better results for the Amsterdam region.
