Job Description

The position of BVC is new within the Senate. This means you have a significant opportunity to shape the role. The key security structures are in place, but there is room for improvement in various areas. Fortunately, you won’t be on your own. You will work closely with the Security Authority (BVA), which also serves as your supervisor.

A specific example from your responsibilities is the preparation of special events such as Prinsjesdag, Heritage Day, and the many visits by heads of state. Naturally, you coordinate security aspects in advance with external parties such as the City of The Hague, the Military Police, security services, etc. On the day itself, you brief colleagues, resolve ad hoc issues, and intervene where necessary.

Another example is the management and implementation of the Security and Surveillance Plan. You apply this to our building, but sometimes also to work visits or the private residences of our Members of Parliament. Where necessary, you make suggestions for improving the agreed-upon frameworks.

One final example is responsibility for the company emergency response team (CERT). You ensure adequate staffing, schedule training sessions and drills, and make sure the CERT’s administrative records are in order.

Your key responsibilities at a glance:

• Implementing the security policy in accordance with the Security Plan and associated protocols;
  
• Advice—both solicited and unsolicited—to employees, members of Congress, and management;
  
• Preparing and organizing all safety-related matters for regular meeting days and special events;
  
• Supporting the BVA in further developing its safety policies and organizational awareness.
  

Job Requirements

As a security coordinator, you have a service-oriented attitude, but at the same time you ensure that agreed-upon guidelines are followed. You often act as a “helper,” but sometimes also as a “police officer.” You enjoy switching between these roles and have an eye for both the outcome and the relationship. You switch easily between operational and tactical tasks and can collaborate smoothly with various individuals and organizations. You are good at thinking ahead, are confident, and exude authority and decisiveness.

What are we looking for in a candidate?

• A college-level education and at least several years of relevant work experience
  
• Verifiable education and/or certification in the field
  
• Experience in managing security guards is a plus
  
• Key competencies: persuasion, analytical skills, sensitivity, and resilience
  

Terms of Employment

Salary level: Grade 10

Salary description: The salary listed is based on a full workweek of 36 hours.

Monthly salary: Min. €3,404 – Max. €5,389 (gross)

Employment status: Fixed-term employment contract with the possibility of conversion to a permanent contract

Contract duration: 1 year

Minimum number of hours per week: 32

Maximum number of hours per week: 36

• We’d like to give you a clear and comprehensive picture of the role, your colleagues, and the context of our organization. That’s why we’re organizing two in-person interviews at our office, where you’ll have the chance to talk with teammates and HR and get a feel for the atmosphere.

• In our relatively small organization, it’s necessary (and fun) to occasionally take on tasks outside your job description or work outside regular office hours.
  
• For the position of security coordinator, attendance at House meetings is specifically required. These meetings take place on Tuesday evenings and, occasionally, on Monday evenings as well. You will receive an allowance for this.
  
• Conversely, you can also expect flexibility from us when it comes to balancing your work and personal life, and it is common practice within the organization to work partly from home, for example.
  
• As a security coordinator, you will be handling classified information. In this context, you are required to undergo a security clearance background check.
