Want to accelerate the transition to a sustainable industry, with a specific focus on the Netherlands’ major industrial companies? You’ll be leading the charge in The Hague. As a strategic advisor, you’ll work on the industry’s transition by conducting in-depth analyses and providing recommendations to ensure we achieve the goals of the National Program for Sustainable Industry: a strong and green industry in the Netherlands. In this way, you’ll make a valuable contribution to a major ecological, social, and economic challenge.
You will be part of the program office for the National Program for Sustainable Industry. This program office supports the program manager and the high-level steering committee—which includes the ministers of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy, and Climate and Energy, as well as the State Secretary for Infrastructure and Water Management—in carrying out their work.
We are looking for four team members to help get the program up to speed and keep it on track. We have an opening for an all-around (junior) policy officer who will organize and prepare meetings and identify bottlenecks. Without you, everything would fall apart. There are two positions responsible for managing and monitoring the portfolio of projects and programs, and continuously assessing whether we are still on track to meet the objectives of the National Program for Sustainable Industry. You will be the central hub both within and outside the ministry. Keeping the roadmap for the program up to date is also part of this role. A fourth position is for someone who will handle the more data-driven side of monitoring. You’ll ensure that all figures are in order and available at the click of a button in clear dashboards for the steering committee, policymakers, and the broader public.
For our all-around policy officers, we are looking for a dynamic individual who thinks on their feet and has a hands-on approach. You work well with others and maintain a clear overview of all activities and meetings.
For the portfolio manager positions, we are looking for individuals who have a strong sense of the big picture, are skilled at planning, excel at collaboration, and have a deep understanding of the energy and industrial systems—or can quickly acquire that knowledge. You possess a strong systemic perspective that allows you to monitor the interconnections between all programs and projects. You are decisive and action-oriented. You have an affinity for the industry and the sustainability challenges facing this sector. You are able to build connections between the various stakeholders. You are able to work in highly varied environments and teams. For the monitoring role, we are looking for someone who loves numbers and can use those numbers to extract the right information. You are able to present these figures in an engaging manner. You collaborate well with other teams involved in monitoring and can effectively synthesize the information they provide into a cohesive whole.
We are looking for a team with diverse backgrounds and skill sets. We are seeking a mix of experience from the public sector, the private sector, consulting, or research.
Placement in pay grade 11, 12, or 13 will be determined based on knowledge and experience.
If you don’t fully meet the job requirements but feel that the position is a good fit for you and believe you can make a positive contribution, please feel free to send us a cover letter.
