Policy Advisor on Employment Conditions

What will you be doing? 

You will manage and update employment policy and HR documentation, ensuring that it is accurate, up-to-date, and accessible to colleagues. You will also provide guidance on how to apply these policies. Finally, you will contribute substantively to (sub)policies on a specific topic.

You will report to a direct supervisor (coordinator or team leader) and work closely with your fellow policy advisors, HR advisors, and colleagues in the Management & Communications department.

Specifically, your duties and responsibilities are:

• Collecting, updating, and managing information about employment terms and legal status. This also includes intranet management and writing news articles.
• Documenting agreements made.
• Drafting and updating the employee handbook.
• Providing advice on complex and less complex issues related to employment terms and conditions.
• Reviewing documents for compliance with laws and regulations and identifying relevant developments.
• Translating changes in laws and regulations into policy proposals or input.
• Making (partial) contributions to the development or revision of policy on a clearly defined topic.

Who are you?  

You are detail-oriented, have strong communication skills, and enjoy bringing structure to tasks. You write in clear and understandable language. You interact easily with various colleagues and know how to handle confidential information with care.

You'll recognize yourself in this  

• HBO-level education and analytical skills; preferably a degree in HRM, Human Resources & Organization, or a legal field.
• You already have work experience as a policy advisor
• Basic knowledge of labor law/public service law and employment terms and conditions.

• Salary ranging from €3,328 to €5,748 per month based on a 36-hour workweek, depending on education and experience
• A job for 32–36 hours a week
• An individual flexible spending allowance (IKB) of 18.63% of the gross annual salary. This includes the year-end bonus and vacation pay.
• 187.2 hours of leave based on a 36-hour workweek, including 43.2 hours of overtime. May 1 and 5 are fixed days off (10.3 hours); these are included in this total.
• A one-year appointment, with the possibility of a permanent position
• A generous pension plan through ABP, 70% of which is paid by us
• The option to work remotely with a work-from-home allowance of €3 per day
• Monthly health insurance premium
• Free access to all sports facilities and classes at the fire stations
• We place a strong emphasis on (personal) development, offering opportunities to participate in courses, training sessions, and workshops.
• The opportunity to take on an on-call position in addition to your regular job

The team

As a policy advisor, you will be working within the HR department, which consists of nearly 40 colleagues. You will primarily be collaborating with our HR advisors and policy advisors, a group of about 10 colleagues.
