SLEEPING BEAUTY AND MERLEYN 

For over 50 years, Doornroosje has been the premier music venue in Nijmegen and the surrounding area. From pop, rock, and hip-hop to techno, metal, and jazz: Doornroosje is the place to be for live shows. In addition to its main venue on Stationsplein, Doornroosje also operates the smaller music venue Merleyn, where there’s plenty of music to discover. With a small but powerful core team and a skilled, driven, and highly flexible support staff, we organize nearly 400 events annually, reaching over 350,000 music lovers. Sleeping Beauty and Merleyn are looking for a: 

MANAGER 

20 hours per week (including 7 hours as a food service worker) 

As the manager, you will have overall responsibility for productions at Merleyn, Doornroosje, and Openluchttheater de Goffert. Your primary goal is to ensure that all visitors have the best possible musical experience, whether at concerts or nighttime productions. You will ensure safety, provide a warm and welcoming experience for our visitors, and make sure that all other staff members keep this same goal in mind.  

You enjoy leading a large team and also serve as a role model. In addition to being a hands-on coordinator, you’ll also actively think about how to create the best possible visitor experience while ensuring sound business operations. You’ll do this for productions at Merleyn and Doornroosje, as well as at the Openluchttheater de Goffert, where we’re also active during the summer months. You will start as a manager with an onboarding program at one location and will subsequently be trained at the other locations as well. You will continue to work at all locations.  

You will be part of a team of nine store managers, most of whom have been promoted from other positions at Doornroosje or Merleyn. We are looking for someone who will be a great addition to the team and help enhance its diversity.  

We are looking for someone who has: 

• love of music; 
• vocational high school level; 
• management experience; 
• Experience as a food and beverage staff member or floor manager at Doornroosje or Merleyn is a plus; 
• holds a degree in Social Hygiene or is willing to pursue one; 
• a first aid certificate or a willingness to obtain one. 

And besides: 

• has an affinity for the hospitality industry; 
• has strong communication skills, both verbal and written; 
• takes the initiative and has a proactive attitude; 
• is able to lend a listening ear to employees and visitors and is willing and able to resolve issues; 
• can make quick decisions in stressful and hectic situations; 
• has a positive attitude and can handle night shifts well.

• A position with a salary in accordance with pay scale 5 of the Collective Labor Agreement for Dutch Music Venues and Festivals (CLA-NPF). This is a combined role consisting of Operations Manager (pay scale 6) and Food and Beverage Staff (pay scale 2).
