Does supporting the improvement of our education system by keeping projects on track financially and administratively—and making the most of the available resources—bring you joy? Do you enjoy maintaining a variety of internal and external contacts? Then this position at the PO-Raad and VO-raad is perfect for you!
In the role of Assistant Project Controller , you will support project leaders from budget preparation through implementation to accountability for various projects aimed at improving primary and secondary education. In this role, you will serve as the link between project implementation and the resources available for these projects.
You will serve as the project manager’s right-hand person starting with the project grant application. During the project’s implementation, you will provide advice on procurement procedures through competitive bidding and project staffing, and you will review interim expenditure reports and any necessary budget adjustments. Upon completion of the project, you will coordinate with the accountants regarding the financial reporting. In doing so, you will utilize the project administration system in Afas.
You will prepare progress reports for management and provide them with both solicited and unsolicited advice on project allocation, progress, and opportunities for collaboration between projects and organizations. You will identify and monitor risks within the projects and communicate these to the associations. You will do all of this in close coordination with the associations’ controller.
First and foremost, you have an affinity for project-based work and enjoy the challenge of making the most of the available resources within the given parameters to achieve the goal. To this end, you are able to utilize analyses that compare preliminary calculations, actual results, and forecasts; you have knowledge of the AFAS system or are able to quickly master it. Where you see opportunities to improve administrative processes and information provision related to projects, you know how to prioritize these. You are able to empathize with the members of the PO-Raad and VO-raad. You are a team player with strong analytical skills, excellent communication skills, and a results-oriented mindset. You enjoy working in a dynamic environment and value continuous professional development. You hold a bachelor’s degree, such as in business studies.
The PO-Raad and the VO-Raad are the sector organizations for primary and secondary education. These associations represent the common interests of school organizations in primary education, secondary education, special primary education, and (secondary) special education. Through visits, networking events, and the General Members’ Meeting, our members are involved in shaping the PO-Raad and VO-Raad’s positions. This makes the councils authoritative advocates. In addition, both councils drive innovative projects and knowledge sharing in education. Quality is our top priority. After all, it concerns the future of our children and, by extension, the future of the Netherlands. That is why we remain committed to quality education for every child.
We embrace variety and diversity, both within the industry and among our own employees.
