Do you speak the language of teenagers? Do you have what it takes to inspire library media specialists to help teachers and students become more digitally literate and enjoy reading more? Then now is the time to apply, so that no teenager is left behind.
One-third of 15-year-olds are at risk of becoming functionally illiterate. A significant number of young people lack sufficient digital skills. This weakens their position in society. Life requires more than just “thumbs-up” on TikTok. Moreover, many teenagers say their smartphones have made them worse students. They are losing motivation. We want to change that. We need to change course. Libraries and reading media consultants are looking for partnerships—as part of the national quality initiative “The Library at School” —that will help the education system further promote reading and information literacy. Our education team supports them in this effort. We need reinforcements, which is why we’re looking for you.
You will advise our libraries on a collaborative language and digital approach with secondary schools and vocational education institutions. In addition, you will support reading and media consultants at libraries that serve secondary and vocational schools, helping them improve teenagers’ language skills. The reading and media consultants, in turn, advise teachers—among others—on how to help teenagers discover the world of reading and storytelling. Sometimes you’ll work briefly at a library to achieve the results you have in mind. Digital citizenship is new territory for many libraries. Together with your colleagues, you’ll show them how to help teenagers navigate the digital society.
Please send your application (cover letter and resume) by December 1 to vacature@probiblio.nl, for the attention of Erica Vos-Meijer, Manager of Education (ages 0–18). Be sure to clearly state the job title “Language and Digital Advisor for VMBO.” Would you like to learn more first? Please call Erica at 06-41010554. She’ll be happy to assist you.
Thefirst interviews will take place on Wednesday, December 4, and thesecond interviews on Wednesday, December 11. If we invite you to an introductory interview, you’ll have plenty of opportunity to showcase your knowledge, experience, and enthusiasm.
Our job openings are open to everyone, and we are always looking for talented individuals from diverse backgrounds and with varied experiences—in part to reflect the diversity of students in vocational education.
Probiblio is committed to serving libraries and society. We believe in an inclusive organization that harnesses the power of diversity to achieve better results. Our job openings are open to everyone.
Probiblio advises public libraries in North and South Holland. We assist them with research, provide new insights, and offer advice on digitization, HR, and their operations. Together with the library, we develop educational policies and support the library in implementing and ensuring their success. In doing so, we help libraries put themselves on the map. In addition, we transport books and materials. We are happy to do so. Libraries are incredibly important: they connect society.
We expect to be able to fill this great opening ourselves. We believe that cold calling is a waste of both your time and ours.
