Libraries, our clients, are looking to collaborate with special education institutions. We’d love to help make that connection happen. But to do so, we need your knowledge, experience, and insight. What do you think—are you up for the challenge? Do you have the spirit of a pioneer? If so, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
Libraries in North and South Holland do not yet collaborate much with special education, special elementary education, or special secondary education. Yet there is much to be done in the areas of language and digital literacy. Our education team helps all libraries in North and South Holland to help (vulnerable) children develop (digital) language skills through the education system (elementary schools and secondary education organizations). It is important that they can build their lives with confidence. We are less familiar with special education. It is up to you to explore this field, investigate opportunities based on what is already known nationally, and build a strong network.
It is important that we learn from one another. You will lead the special education learning team, in which specialists explore various possibilities. You will maintain contact with colleagues across the country who work in this same field and exchange experiences with them. You will advise libraries on opportunities to collaborate with special education and share your insights with our own organization and the provincial networks. You will largely set your own schedule, and you may occasionally work temporarily at an interested library to help establish a successful partnership.

In the coming years, we will be working closely with our libraries to focus strongly on language, digital literacy, and inclusion. Just like libraries, we feel a responsibility to help people and provide equal opportunities. A solid grasp of basic skills such as language and digital literacy is crucial. You can’t start early enough. To support libraries, we’re significantly expanding our education team. We have seven open positions. Feel free to share them with your network. Together, we can build a society where vulnerable children can also find their place.
Probiblio advises public libraries in North and South Holland. We assist them with research, provide new insights, and offer advice on digitization, HR, and their operations. Together with the library, we develop educational policies and support the library in implementing and ensuring their success. In doing so, we help libraries put themselves on the map. In addition, we transport books and materials. We are happy to do so. Libraries are incredibly important: they connect society.
