The built environment is evolving at a rapid pace. New building materials, the transition to renewable energy, and climate-adaptive construction all pose risks. These changes are outpacing updates to legislation. In this challenging role, you will have the opportunity to act as a proactive and results-oriented fire safety expert, bridging the gap between the necessary regulatory measures and mitigating risks driven by these developments.
You will evaluate structural, mechanical, and organizational fire safety measures for complex structures. You will also analyze and assess equivalence proposals. Furthermore, you will take a compliance- and risk-based approach to identifying measures you can implement—or have implemented—to make buildings and their surroundings as safe as possible. You will be able to present this advice persuasively, both verbally and in writing.
Every day, you write letters, hold meetings—for example, at a site planning table—or share your knowledge by giving presentations. You participate in relevant professional networks. You also have, or are developing, a specialization, such as high-rise construction, underground structures, or cultural heritage.
You identify bottlenecks and areas for improvement, and contribute ideas on knowledge development, quality improvement, and process efficiency. Finally, you ensure the effective transfer of knowledge and information to our colleagues in incident response, professional competence, and operational preparedness.
You enjoy working as a plan reviewer but would like to do so at our dynamic safety region. You may also hold a degree in Integrated Safety Science or Architecture; you’re enthusiastic about the work described above but don’t yet have specific fire safety knowledge. No problem—you’ll start at an entry-level position and we’ll provide the training. We’d love to have you on board!
You’re also confident and self-assured, and you’re an enthusiastic, creative, and enterprising person. You work independently but not in isolation, because above all, we’re looking for a sociable and fun colleague who’s a pleasure to work with.
You connect with others and have a knack for engaging and inspiring them with your enthusiasm. You know how to handle resistance and don’t let it throw you off balance. You are customer- and solution-oriented and are attuned to the organization and its dynamic environment.
