As a diversity and inclusion advisor, you will help make the City of Arnhem more diverse and inclusive. Together, we want to create a work environment characterized by respect and understanding of each other’s backgrounds, where everyone is welcome and able to participate.

As a Diversity and Inclusion Advisor, you will contribute to the city’s“Inclusive Arnhem” program. Through this program, the City of Arnhem is working toward an inclusive city and organization based on five themes. In your role, you will focus on the theme of a diverse and inclusive municipal organization. This involves addressing questions such as: How can we ensure that the City of Arnhem is an organization with which our residents can identify? Where (new) employees can be themselves and feel seen, heard, and valued, and where we exclude no one? Your work has a significant impact on the work culture of the City of Arnhem, and you’ll also have the opportunity to contribute ideas for improvements within the organization.

In the HR department, we focus on “the right person in the right place” across the entire organization. After all, employees make the difference. With approximately 35 employees, we provide high-quality advice and support to both management and employees. In this role within HR, you will be part of the BPA (Policy, Process, and Terms of Employment) team. Together with the strategic HR business partners, this team forms the pillars of HR policy and advises on complex HR issues.
You will also work closely with the diversity & inclusion officer and the inclusion team. Organizationally, they are not part of the HR department. The inclusion team consists of five employees, each with their own specific responsibilities. You will ensure strong communication with your colleagues in the HR department. Your focus will be on fostering a diverse and inclusive municipal organization.

You are an expert in the field of diversity, inclusion, and equality. This means you have expertise in this area and stay up to date on the latest developments in every way possible. To truly make an impact and ensure this issue remains a top priority within the City of Arnhem, you know what actions and activities need to be taken to raise awareness, and from there, continue to contribute to a diverse and inclusive organization.
