Research Assistant (m/f/x)

Position
As part of the Rijksmuseum’s Women’s Project (VRM), we are seeking an enthusiastic, efficient, and meticulous research assistant for the Rijksprentenkabinet collections department. The goal is to complete the ongoing inventory of works on paper by women and to develop a methodology for registering this group in collaboration with the Terminology Working Group, as well as to further develop and publish one or more case studies.
Responsibilities
- Conduct research on the collection of works on paper.
- Continue selecting female creators and analyze the data.
- Conduct research on the art market related to the sub-collection and make recommendations for acquisitions.
- Substudy of cases to be determined.
- Join the Rijksmuseum’s interdisciplinary Women’s Working Group.
- Co-organizing the annual "Women in the Museum" symposium.
- Collaborate with the relevant curators from the Print Room, Fine Arts, and Dutch History collections.
What is expected?
- A degree in art history, at least an M.A.
- At least one year of work experience in a museum setting.
- An affinity for working on paper and experience handling original drawings.
- Experience with museum inventory systems and working with a thesaurus.
- Able to collaborate with colleagues both within and outside the department.
- Able to work accurately and with concentration.
- Excellent command of Dutch and a good knowledge of English.
