The Rijksmuseum is the national museum of the Netherlands. Its collection comprises 1.1 million art objects from and about the Netherlands, spanning from the Middle Ages through the 20th century. The Digital Subdivision is responsible for the implementation of new technology at the Rijksmuseum. The division focuses on website and app management and development, web content editing and customer support, social media and online strategy (including engagement strategy), online marketing, and growth hacking (including SEO and CRM).
Working at the Rijksmuseum
In this role, you will be responsible for editing the website and other digital products to ensure that the content meets the established standards for language, design, and layout, and that the information is up-to-date and accessible. Within the Digital sub-department, the Website Manager has primary responsibility for the website. Your duties will include:
- Collecting, selecting, editing, and writing texts and visual content for corporate communications and art-historical presentations aimed at a general audience.
- Reviewing submitted material for completeness, timeliness, clarity, language, and style.
- Writing, editing, and revising texts in Dutch and English.
- Planning and monitoring publications.
- Ensuring that the sections are up-to-date and complete, and keeping abreast of developments at the museum.
- Contribute to the development of the website and the creation of digital products.
- Suggest improvements regarding content, length, structure, layout, and other related aspects
- Website optimization for conversion.
- You actively contribute to the implementation of A/B tests.
- Tasks related to sending newsletters and providing online customer support.
What do you bring to the table?
- At least a completed vocational or college degree in communications.
- Extensive experience in writing and editing content for websites and digital products.
- Proven experience in website content management.
- Experience with and/or familiarity with CMS and other relevant backend systems.
- Knowledge of the layout and design aspects of websites and digital products.
- Knowledge and experience with SEO and analytics.
- Experience writing articles and short-form copy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in Dutch and English.
- Problem-solving skills.
- Stress-resistant.
What do you get in return?
- A gross monthly salary ranging from €2,727.00 to €3,489.00 per month based on a 36-hour workweek (scale 8 of the museum collective bargaining agreement).
- 8% vacation pay and 3.4% year-end bonus.
- A one-year contract with the possibility of renewal.
- The flexibility to alternate between working from home and working in the office, including a budget to set up your home office to your liking.
- Full reimbursement of public transportation costs for trips of 5 km or more (up to a maximum of €345). The costs you incur when you park your bike in a secure bike rack at the station are also fully reimbursed.
- After your probationary period, you will receive a Museum Year Card that grants you unlimited access to 450 museums in the Netherlands. You are always welcome at the Rijksmuseum (during opening hours) with one guest.
- Participation in various events and sports activities, such as the Rijkshockey and the Rijksrun.
