Would you like to use your skills to help create a safe and healthy safety region as a project manager, specialist, or supervisor? Then apply for the position of Fire Officer at the Amsterdam-Amstelland Safety Region!
This is your chance to enroll in a fully funded, full-time training program to become a fire officer starting in September 2026! After completing the program, you will become a fire officer with the Amsterdam-Amstelland Fire Department. As a fire officer, you will have a permanent office position with our Safety Region. Think of roles such as: project manager for the outfitting of new fire trucks, Environmental Safety Advisor, Accessibility Specialist, Professional Competence and Events Advisor, or Advisor in the Management & Communications Department. It also offers you the opportunity to serve in an operational role within the Fire Department.
The paid training program is conducted in-house at the Dutch Institute for Public Safety (NIPV) in Arnhem and lasts a total of 18 months. The program consists of three tracks. The red track trains you to become a duty officer, the green track prepares you to serve as an advisor within the fire department, and the purple track supports your personal development. You will attend classes and gain practical experience through internships. Your personal development is central to this program. Therefore, prior firefighting training is not required.
During those 18 months, you will be trained as a private, a squad leader, and a duty officer.
Join us for the national information day on March 7, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. in Arnhem at the NIPV. Discover the exciting world of the fire service. Ask all your questions about the selection process, training, and, of course, the work itself, and meet your future colleagues. For more information, visit www.brandweerofficier.nl.
The Amsterdam-Amstelland Fire Department is part of the Amsterdam-Amstelland Safety Region. Within our safety region, six municipalities, the fire department, medical services, the police, the Public Prosecution Service, and other public and private (safety) partners work together on risk management, firefighting, emergency response, and crisis preparedness. The six municipalities that together form the Amsterdam-Amstelland region are Amsterdam, Diemen, Ouder-Amstel, Amstelveen, Aalsmeer, and Uithoorn. Day in and day out, as a network organization, we consult with one another to anticipate risks, learn together, prevent crises, and ensure that our region is a safe one.
The application deadline is April 7, 2026.
