
Do you already have a bachelor’s or master’s degree and want to start working as a police leader in the Rotterdam Unit? The accelerated bachelor’s program in police leadership begins in January 2025. In this fast-track, career-oriented program, you’ll learn and work in a practical setting. This will allow you to gain extensive work experience that you can immediately apply to your coursework. Upon completion of this work-study program, you will have a recognized police degree, and we guarantee a job for you.
After completing the police leadership program in the Rotterdam unit, you will be prepared to take on the role of Tactical Supervisor. As a Tactical Supervisor, you will have ultimate responsibility for a team of at least 150 full-time police officers. You will be a member of the district management team, which entails significant responsibilities . As a member of the district management team, you will outline, based on a clear vision, what you need to ensure safety in the area for which you are responsible. In addition, you will hold regular consultations with the mayor of the area and maintain contact with the Public Prosecutor’s Office. Within your core team, you will directly lead your management team, which is responsible for operational management.
A Tactical Commander also has operational responsibilities as the Chief Officer on Duty. In the event of major disasters and incidents, you are responsible for the deployment and allocation of police resources (such as the riot police) from the Rotterdam unit. As a Tactical Commander, you also serve in the role of a Staff Officer for Major and Special Operations (SGBO). In the event of imminent large-scale incidents, you will work directly under the authority of the mayor or the Chief Public Prosecutor. You are responsible for the deployment of police forces during a (terrorist) crisis or other emergencies. Naturally, you will be thoroughly prepared and trained for this role.
